- Nice design, Cheap build
Ok, so last novemeber I bought my slimline PS2, and got myself into the wonderful world of so many fantastic PS2 titles. I love it, maybe not as much as the nintendo magic but at least 3rd parties are willing to create for the PS2.
Anyway, the controller I fell is not up to scratch. Yes, it may be well layed out and fits into your hand nicely, but the fact is is that apart from its stupid Z button the GameCube controller fits better, and everything is much better layed out.
I cant remember the amount of times ive had difficulty moving quickly from X to O but on the Cube bad all of the face buttons are designed to go under your thumb, rather than just the one.
Also, whilst for the best part of four years my Cube pad has hit the fall on a regular basis, my L2 button seems to pop out everytime I look at it.
Its a nice controller, but its just not as solid as it should be, and is prone to breakage.

This controller is perfect - cheap immitations are incomparable! I've had my PS2 for almost 3 years and play games such as GTA:SA (which uses predominantly the four 'action' buttons) and TimeSplitters:FP (where the shoulder buttons and D-Pad take heavy duty) and I have suffered none of the ill effects that other reviewers describe, this doesn't mean to say that they are all wrong, but I thought I had better share my good experience. The analog sticks take the most duty, the mistake that Nintendo had with their otherwise superb N64 controller was that these were very fragile, Sony's conversely are very sturdy and very simple to use. The shoulder buttons take most criticism, and I often hear people say that they come out, in three years this hasn't happened to me. I store my controller pads face up in a safe place, and never vent my frustration on my pads, and this formula has helped to keep my pads in immaculate condition.

I have no doubt that for ease of use, all-round compatibility, general game feel, and comfort in the hand, the official Sony controller is the best you can get. But be warned - if your playing style is anything like mine, you will be going through these like nobody's business. I am a fanatical Pro-Evolution Soccer player, and so far, I have found that two of these controllers became unusable after the L1/R1 buttons broke off after a few months, and two others died after only a few weeks when the left analogue sticks became dislodged from their moorings. Admittedly, I put them through some hard use, but I am dismayed at the general shoddiness of these things, especially given that they retail for far more than other comparable products. I won't be buying any more of them unless the price comes down.

I've been reading some of the other reviews on this product, many of which are negative about its build quality. Perhaps I have been lucky as I've had my Playstation for about 2 years and I have not had any problems with it.
In my opinion this is the Playstation has the best controller available on any console. I have and Xbox and a Playstation 2 and my brothers have a Game Cube and we all agree that the PS2 controllers get the job done like no other controller. Personally I feel the Gamecube controller is useless and I don't really understand what Nintendo were thinking. As for Xbox, It may arguably be the better console but the controllers are not the same quality. Firstly I don't like the idea of the Black and White button, and I feel there should be 4 shoulder buttons, like Playstation.
The Xbox controllers are good and I especially like the large trigger button, but in the same way the PS2 is stylish and sophisticated and the Xbox looks a bit like a radiator. The PS2 controller has everything in write place and is so comfortable to hold, whereas the Xbox controller is a bit clumsy. The buttons are too thick and it's uncomfortable.
Overall the controller should be an important factor when deciding whether or not to buy a console. For example, as much as I love my Playstation and Xbox, if they had Gamecube controllers I simply wouldn't have bought them. This is not the case with PS2 controllers. They are so comfortable and easy to use, and in my opinion they are definitely the best controllers available.

This controler is far better than anything the x box or gamecube has it is just the right size for your hands and all buttons can be pressed easaly unlike the gamecube controller.
The big problem with the PS2 controller is the build quolity they just fall to bits. nice that they are cheap then for my ps2 i have gone through 3 controllers as the sholder buttons at the top tend to break.
But it is beter then any other controller you may use i am getting the adaptor so i can us eit on my pc. :)
