Video Games : Disney's Aladdin: Nasira's Revenge

I was looking for a cartoon type game to play and came across this and as a fan of the movie thought I would give it a try. However I was very disappointed with the game overall. Although the different levels of the game are in keeping with the theme of the film and it features the various characters of the movie what really lets this game down are the graphics and the controls. I consider myself a good game player but controlling the character is extremely frustrating at times and although the levels themselves are fairly simple trying to get Aladdin to jump and move around as you wish can be a nightmare, also the graphics are very poor indeed, at times you can see through walls etc and when riding on the magic carpet it appears as if you are flying through the objects you are supposed to be avoiding. At various times the character even continued moving around even though I didn't even have my hands on the control!!!! All this makes a realtively straightforward game extremely frustrating and i got stuck time and time again at various stages and I had the same problems on each level. In the end I got so frustrated and bored with this game that I gave up. I'm all for a challenging game but it is the poor quality of the controls and the graphics which make this game harder than it should be and I would not recommend buying it to anyone. Overall it has a very dated look and if you are searching for a Disney type game from that era to play then the Tarzan game for one is much better than this. Rating: - An age thing?
Maybe its just me, but I'm sure we all enjoyed the Aladdin movie when it first came out a good while back now. So isn't a bit of a strange time to release a game after all the hype from the movie has disappeared? Anyway, the game is set as another 3D platformer similar in a way to Mario on the N64 and Rayman on the PSX. The graphics are sharp, but seem somewhat lacking in colour. The animation on the other hand can be quite pleasing as your character performs various actions such as sneaking, throwing apples, climbing etc. Also, between levels there are some nice little cut scenes that are fun to watch and add to the general plot. The game play is quite simplistic, but the controls can be a real pain which can it make it tricky and sometimes a bit frustrating! Admittedly I gave up on this game early on, as I found it a bit monotonous and it didn't really capture my attention. However, I think that this would be a much greater success with younger players, especially those who are fans of the movie and the series as they will really be able to get into it! Older players on the other hand will, I'm sure agree that the game is a bit dated although fun in places. Definitely one for your little brother/sister!
