- BETTER THAN PS2(in my oppinion)
I own both XBOX and PS2 and I think Xbox is better. PS2 wastes my time because its gone in to the world of disk read heaven. Xbox never has this problem unless your disk is dirty, and GTA double pack froze on me but only for the first 3 days of owning it. PS2 may have a wide selection of games but over half of them are rubbish. Xbox has less of the crap games. The graphics are better than the PS2, multiplayer is better, thanks to xbox live.
There is a hard drive for xbox so you can borrow music of your friends and store it on to your hard drive as well as game saves(you can use a memory card to take data onto someone's xbox). The PS2 doesn't need a dvd controller but xbox does(people will often already have a dvd player anyway).
I'm sick of people saying that xbox is bad because graphics are great and gameplay is more important. XBOX is the ultimate gaming system for action games, Ninja gaidan is one of the best action games available and it's only on xbox and oxm(official xbox magazine UK)gave it 9.2. It's one of the highest ratings along with SPLINTER CELL 2, HALO, MAX PAYE 2, PROJECT GOTHAM 2 and BLINX the time sweeper and more. Ninja G.... is so good that OXM said cast your mind back to when you kicked someone through a stained glassed window in DEAD OR ALIVE and remember how thrilling it was, times it by a million times and Ninja.....delivers on thrills . Buy the xbox for that game.

Don't believe anyone that says xbox is trash because play Tony Hawks Under Ground on Ps2 and the gameplay is sluggish and so are the graphics compared to the xbox. Splinter cell 1 first came to Xbox with great graphics and gameplay and 5 months or so later it came out on PS2, people saying graphics improved, wrong. All the developers did was add a few colours on PS2 and xbox still had the best shadow effects and so on. When ever there's a game that goes multy format, it'll usually be best on xbox and Soul calibre 2 is a prime example.
PS the controllers are better than the PS2'S in my oppinion. There's a smaller controller called the CONTROLLER S.

I bought an XBOX about a year after buying a PS2 so I could take advantage of online play with friends. The kind of games suited to online play, mainly driving or stealth games, unfortunately only showcase the inferior quality and operation of the XBOX controllers. This is a real shame because the games for the console are great fun and online play adds another exciting dimension, but you are constantly fighting indifferent quality in the only equipment you can control the game with. Switching back to the PS2 (I haven't yet explored the online potential of this console as friends plumped for the XBOX) shows just how badly wrong the designers of the controllers have got it. It's a joy to play on the PS2 and a chore on the XBOX. If you already have a PS2, keep your loyalty there. Good gaming.

As an owner of a Gamecube, Playstation 2 and now an Xbox I thought I should share my views.
The Xbox is a great console I have to admit, it has great qualities such as an on board hard drive which saves money on memory cards, this also allows to have custom soundtracks on some games. It also has great graphics in comparison to the two other before mentioned consoles. But as with any console it has its down falls, although many people say it has a wide variety of games it seems to me that it has about just as many as Gamecube, with about a ΒΌ being great games. Another fall back in this console is the fact you have to pay extra just to use the DVD player features of this console.
The controller at first looks a bit off-putting, but you soon get use to it. Only one complaint though, on the s type controller the start button is to the left hand side which is a bit confusing as most controllers position this button in the middle and so I have become a custom to this.
So as a long time gamer I would say that for now the Playstation 2 is the best console to purchase (I didn't say it's the best console) as it has a wide variety of games and its the games that make or break a console, yes the graphics are poorer, but as any true gamer knows graphics don't make the game.
But over time I can definitely see the Xbox becoming the market leader as more and more great games are released for it.

The X-box is a very good console for the money you pay for it nowadays, but it lacks the cutting edge you would expect it to have. Microsoft poured a lot of resources into the system, so for what many consumers were expecting, it's a little disappointing.
The system is a very evolutionary one, and is far from head and shoulders above the PS2 (which i still regard as the best one you can buy!) - the sound and graphics are extremely impressive but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.
Another major problem is that the console is just too big, it's like the size of a video recorder, whereas the Gamecube and PS2 are nice and compact. It also has a particularly loud fan!
I also own a PS2 and find that the best overall package - the graphics are also very impressive, the sound is good, but unlike the X-Box, the gameplay is excellent and keeps you playing, with the X-Box i had one game of football then turned it off!
It's a solid console but if you want something better, go for the PS2!

A couple of months a go, I was contemplating whether to buy an xbox ps2 or gamecube, In the end I bought an xbox because all my mates had a ps2. I did not regret buying the xbox one bit, because of its stunning graphics and gameplay. It produces good games such as HALO Need for speed underground and much more. XBOX is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully Microsoft will come up with an xbox 2.
