- This game is just a load of money-making hype from the film
I'm a long time fan of Spidey and although this is probably the best Spidey game ever to be released it is totally rubbish. it does not really follow the film unlike what the title suggests; people say the graphics are mind-boggling but aren't most Gamecube titles? How can people say this game has the best graphics when we've got games like Rogue Leader and the soon-to-be-released Starfox Adventures?! OK, so graphics aren't everything so what about gameplay? well its either impossibly hard or so easy you don't even need a controller. The levels are repetitive too: beat up an enemy, beat up another, and another and another,oooo! 30 seconds of web slinging and guess what! another enemy to beat up only this tie its a super-duper spiderman seeking robot full of handy kitchen gadgets to stop every move you can make and then it kills you. So you try some cheats out; you get passed the first robot but then the equivalent of the Chinese army in Spider-hunting killing machines comes after you. Being the green goblin with the right cheat is fun for a while but even he's fairly rubbish once his weapons are used up. The controls are extremely awkward and although the designers have developed a mulitude of web attacks, after about 3 special web attacks your webbing has been used and you have to wait 3 weeks for it to replenish just to bind someone up for 2 seconds. The web slinging is quite good at first but after the frustations of boring gameplay the best thing to do is sling yourself onto the highest building and let yourself fall- and die of course- and then laugh out loud, just like the green goblin only sound authentic! Even the ending is nothing like the film! I loved the movie but this is just a venture to make money off the hype of the film; therefore its been rushed and thats exactly the feeling you'll get if you play it. I know other reviewers have said hwo wonderful it is, but remember, these are probably die hard fans so they're going to love it anyway- take little notice. I'm a fan but I'm still reasonable enough to say this game is awful. Thankfully, Marvel will be saved from disgrace by X-Men Next Dimension. The best thing in this game for me was probably seeing my surname being used as the name for the jewellry shop that Shocker robs- and the excitement of that lasted about, ummmm, 5 seconds. And what if you're surname isn't Cullen- well, sorry but you'll be bored stiff from start to finish.

This game is superb! The graphics are amazing and the story follows the film near to exact. It has cheesy one-liners that are cool, but are repeated a lot. The gameplay is fantastic and you feel like you are in total control of Spidey. Also the actors in the film actually do voice-overs in the game which is quality!!! If you like adventures this is 4 u!!!

If you buy this game you may well want to put it down after the second level as this is probably one of the hardest leves in the game. This is however due to the complex controls and range of movement. Once mastered this game becomes a fantastic adventure following the film with unbelievable graphics and gameplay. The cut scenes are especially impressive with the spidy sense playing a big part in that.
The only dodgy part is the American bloke telling you what to do during both training and the game. He tends to treat you like a 2 year old but this is more laughable than annoying.
Overall a fantastic game which does the GC proud.
Buy it (unless you are skint - then don't)

this is possibly the best graphically enhanced game on the Gamecube so-far. Even though the graphics are impecable the one liners get rather repetitive and boring and sometimes the camera angles are confusing but oh!! my god the graphics and gameplay cannot be beaten and the combos that can be pulled of look excellent and to add to all of that the suppervillans look better than ever except maybe 'The Vulture' who doesnt look as good as expected and i love the new get-up for 'Scorpion'the whole metal thing really pulls off for you. so my overall conclusion is BUY THIS GAME AS IT TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a long-time Spidey fan, I really wanted to like this game. The training levels are really good, especially the "big brawl" which gives you 3 minutes against masses of bad guys, and the "web-platforms" where you have to swing onto pinball-style bumpers placed in midair. But the actual missions are a bit boring, and there's little incentive to play again and again. There are some really nice touches, like the reflections in the hero's eye slits, and the one-liners (OK, they are a bit repetitive after a while, but they do capture the atmosphere of the comic book). If you're a fan of the web-slinger, then you'll REALLY want to play this, because the battling and swinging really captures the comic book. But the game needs to be playable, and needs to make you keep coming back, and that's what's lacking here.
