- Metal gear... who?
This game absolutely tops all other stealth/action games.
Everyone always says that metal gear solid is the best stealth series out. No way! How can they say that when you cant even do half the stuff in it that you can do in splinter cell.
In splinter cell you have the advantages of hiding in the dark to decieve foes if you are spotted, wheras in metal gear solid all you can do is run away and eventually get shot. FUN! You can also sneak up behind enemies and use them to your advantage. For example getting them to use a retinal scanner for a locked door, or forcing a door code out of them, if they dont co operate, get rid of the body, but hide it well because if another guard finds it the alarm will be raised.
This game boasts great graphics and the actor Michael Ironside playing the voice of the hero Sam Fisher (You may recognise him from the films Total recall and Starship Troopers)There is also amazing lighting effects and the intelligence of computerized guards is like nothing ever seen before at its time.
Also if you are not necessarily a good games player, dont worry as there are frequent save points so you don't have to start right at the begginning every time you die.
The only downside to this game is that there are only two weapons in the game-the normal silenced pistol and a silenced rifle, but you can equip special ammunition into the rifle to apply different effects. For example electric shockers.
I'd reccommend this game to anybody who's looking for a challenge, as each the levels get get harder as you progress further. The xbox version has 9 long missions, the PS2 version has 10. The controls may take a bit of time to get used to but once you get going you'll wonder what all the fuss with metal gear solid is all about.
Buy splinter cell NOW! You wont regret it. Believe me!

This looked great, but the controls are really shocking, completely anti-intuitive. You know those silky controls in games like Metroid, Halo, Prince of Persia etc, in which your every thought seems to be read by the control system? This is the opposite, awkward and hard to get the hang of.
The dialogue is laughable and gung-ho, the animation on the people is clumsy and clunky, and the game has less atmosphere than the moon.
I don't get why people are into this at all. I bought this, Burnout 3 & Halo with my X-box - the other two are fantastic, but I just can't be bothered with this. Avoid!

This game is not about Marines entering a combat zone and killing everyone that points a gun in their general vicinity. This game is about Espionage, spying. Spying involves being quiet, invisible and using lethal force only when absolutely necessary. It says that on the box (more or less). I reckon that this game is superb, the whole series is superb. The realism is great, the graphics are great etc...
Therefore if you are after a huge body count and lots of expended round casings don't buy this game (read the box!!!), if you want to try your hand at at sneaking up on people and taking them as a human sheild (in some cases) or interrogating them, whilst at the same time getting involved in some serious spy stuff then this is the gam for you. If you are expecting another Halo type game stay well away.

This game is absolutely fantastic. I bought it reluctantly on reccomendation from a friend but as soon as i atarted playing I was hooked.
The beauty of this game is the fact that you have to play really calmly and with time. For Example you first get to know a guards route, get to know where he's going to stom then you take carefull aim and take the headshot!!
It is truly amazing!!
Equipped with a great array of gadgets ranging from the SC-20k to the sticky cams, ths game rocks.
When I bought it I had never played a stealth game before.
After playing it I was compelled to Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, but Spinter Cell beats Substance by a long shot.
Any Xbox owner needs to have this. Trust me, even if you dont like stealth. SPlinter Cell is different.

Having bought this game from hearing all the hype surrounding it, I could not wait to play it. Damm was I disappointed, what is the point of buying a game where all you do is listen to people's conversations and hide in the shaddows, not being able to fire a round off! If you want to waste your money to hide in a dark corner, then this is for you! My advice dont bother!
