How appealling? 4/5
Good game, good graphics, good storyline and lots of levels to keep you entertained. Could be more exciting, but it is fun game and I would recommend buying this or one of the other Splinter Cell games.

Not usually a big fan of stealth games (always found MGS quite slow and boring) but i'd heard good things about the splinter cell series and decided to give it a chance.
Big mistake, played it for a few days and got fed up with it. The most frustrating game i've ever played, here's why:
1. the objectives are so vague it renders them utterly pointless (i.e. 'find the black box' - you have no idea where or how to start looking)
2. every time you move it seems to make a huge amount of noise (even when you're crouching and there's no one around - how the hell can you jeapordise the mission when nobody is around to hear your footsteps?!!!)
and 3. if you sneak up on someone and they notice you, firing several bullets into them doesn't seem to make a difference, and it takes about 6 shots to kill someone, plus you have really limited ammo. How annoying.
I must admit the graphics are excellent, shadows/lighting effects etc. and there is a really good sense of atmosphere in the game but this is let down by too many flaws for me.
P.S. One reviewer mentioned the glaring contradiction of sam wearing green lights all over him and trying to be a stealth agent - very true - what's that all about?!!

this is the best splinter cell game in the series. yes it doesnt have all the cool gadgets the newer ones have and yes the graphics arent as good but the gameplay is much more fun. the fact that you dont have as many gadgets is a good thing cos its harder and less complicated. the controls are top notch and the storyline is very good.
buy it before the other ones.

I bought this game not knowing anything about it, instantly I fell in love! At the start of the game there is very useful training, which most other game don't show you. This tells you all you need to know to get you through. Although total game play is quit short, it is very exciting and most enjoyable. Being the first in the splinter cell's this game set you off on a ride of wanting more after completing each game. Luckily the 3 game's (Pandora tomorrow, chaos theory and double agent.) that follow are each and individually better then the last. I would recommend it highly to anyone!

I dont no what these people are on about. They obviously dont no how to play splinter cell. Splinter cell is the stealth game of all stealth games.
I wasnt expecting much from this as it was the first splinter cell and i had already completed pandoras tomorrow and played chaos theory.
It is just as good as both of them. The only difference is, is in chaos theory you got a few more gadgets and moves. I thought stealth on this one was harder than both pandoras and chaos theory and in my opinion thats a good thing. The harder the better in this kinda game i reckon.
I love splinter cell. My patience is really bad with games like metal gear solid and stuff but for some reason splinter cell i get into so much. Everything you do you need concerntration and constant focus if you wanna play it properly.
Its amazing. I love this game. Graphics are top notch and the story lines are cool and the cuts scenes are nice and the game play is cool but you gotta be gentle with that joypad so no one hears you.
You think you like stealth games then get this or one of the splinter cell games. I think this one is the hardest out of the 3 but there all really good.
