Well, this is a vast improvement on the original game "Syndicate". The graphics are much better, there are far more weapons like the sniper's 'LR Rifle' and the devastating 'Cataclysm' explosives. Voices of agents, enemies and police are easily heard and realistic and the mini-map is invaluble.
In the far future, all people have small computer chips that let them live in a very 'Matrix' illusion that the world is all rosy and cheerful. These 'Utopia' chips are forcibly implanted into all people by the all-powerful 'Eurocorp' business to keep everyone happy. Although some people manage to break the chips' influence and see the world as it really is...a hell-hole of decay and warfare.
The game places you in command of either a squad of 'Eurocorp' syndicate superhuman agents, or a member of the "Church of the New Epoch", a highly advanced organisation of unchipped zealous religionists who are bent on turning everyone into fantical worshippers of their cult. To add to the mayhem, citizens who have broken the influence of the Utopia chips gather together in street gangs, wearing punk clothes and equipped with anything from Uzi's to laser cannons.
Guide either side through many levels all over the world to achieve either wealth with the Eurocorp, or domination with the Church of the New Epoch...

This is without a doubt one of the best games that i have ever had. It sets a futuristic atmostphere, and combines it with reasonable graphics and fantastic gameplay. I've had this game since 1998, and never tired of it to this day. Not only is it a great single playing experience, but it is also very enjoyable cooperative
Now that the Playstation is a dead system, and customers now buy PS2's, it is unlikely that this game will be bought. But the very fact that you are reading this suggests that you are considering the purchase. Do not blink. Buy this game, invite round your friends (upto 4 player) and play the best and most enjoyable game to hit the playstation throughout its existance. (September 2003)
