- A good time waster!
Alright, let's get one thing straight. Yes, the storyline is stupid, and yes there are far more realistic skillful games out there - but frankly if you just want to crash cars into pedestrians and cause general chaos in a massive city, then this is the game for you.
Mostly I just ignore the actual missions, the standard of gameplay in them isn't really worth my time, but just messing about in the streets is so much fun on it's own that you won't really worry about that.
If you're looking for a game to play locked in your room for five days solid until you develop premature arthritis, there are plenty of other games you should go and get. But if you just need to waste a couple hours smashing things up and getting rid of that everyday frustration life brings, True Crime can't be beat.
Don't be put off by the hardcore gamers. Give it a fair chance. At the price it's going for in the sellers market there's no reason not to try it.

True crime is a disappointment, it's basically activisions poor attempt at appealing to Gamecube and Xbox owners as their alternative to the PS2's title in the "crime" genre, it takes all aspects of the grand theft auto series and re-attempts them with disappointing results not to mention the fact that it lacks many features which -thanks to the release of GTA:Vice city- made GTA3 obsolete (such as the helecoptor, motorbike and the option to purchase many locations accross the regions).
The graphics are poor.
The shooting sections lack the requirement of skill due to the temperamental sensitivity.
The fusion of driving and shooting adds to the problem above.
The fighting sections are appaling, bash buttons, see if you win.
The storyline is poorly devised, with no feeling of continuity between the "chapters".
The characters are unconvincing.
The fact that the game sees you beating up hookers (by bashing buttons, remember?) is undesirable.
You won't have time for the loading.
The sound effects are unconvincing (sorry for the repetition)
The driving sections are mediocre (the're actually good fun when the game doesn't require you to shoot at the same time)
The fact that you have to fight (sorry, SHOOT)dragons and daemons at the end of the game successfully dejects any remaining sense of realism.
Okay, to sum up, this game is bad, it may appeal for a short time (a week, maximum), but this is likely to be the time when the concepts of the gimmicks are going to be effective, when you put them into practice, you'll find that they are not. You may find that you convince yourself that the plot will thicken and the action will pick up, take it from me, i've completed it (ALL of it), seen all 3 endings and beaten every mission.
Don't buy it.
Rent it for £3.
If the novelty doesn't wear off during your "2 nights", rent it again.
Then for £6 you will have saved yourself £30.

I really think that true crime is a very overrated game. It relies to much on guns and gore and forgets the most important thing in a game-the gameplay! It does have some good points though. Firslty the moves you can perform are often fun. Also, in places the storyline is good as well. But, with all the hype it has got, like people calling it the next GTA, it has not delivered. If something wants to be the next brilliant gangster game, it has to be better than this.

One of the latest games I have brought has become the best ever! This gameis full of death-defying stunts, cool perps, no nerds just modernatelanguage and murderous crime from start to finish!
It's all: 'give meyour gun, give me your knife, give me your car and show me what you'vegot!' The main character is tough, bad and cool as a bullet; he's NickKang Wilson. Through your gameplay with him, you can learn ways of how toannoy your enemies in the real world, that's what I do. He's my favouritecharacter and he's every non-bods' star! He's cool, he's sexy and he's 32years old!
As soon as you get used to this tantalisinglyaction-cool-street game, you will experience murderous take-downs,incredibley dangerous driving stunts and unusaul hostages! This game Iwon't stop loving in my gaming life. I love this game too much, I bet youcool teens will!

absolute brilliance. The realistic L.A. environment includes all the real road, streets and even some of the same houses. This game is easy to complete but even playing it over and over you never get bored.
If you don't have this game then go and get it now!!!
