Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Jedi Academy
This is a fantastic game! The graphics a sweet with the lipsync to match other features such as create your own saber and create your own character is a plesant touch.

The Story mode is extremly good, challenging and you learn the ways of the force throughout it. Also you can choose a path, dark side or light side which is excellent.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - The Force is not strong in this one...
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast was a wonder of gaming. A powerful,well-executed storyline with (at the time) pretty decent graphics, animmersive atmosphere and of course, the lightsaber. The only weapon for mesince then. Some say it was a random affair, but they obviously never gotto grips with it properly.
To REALLY use a lightsaber required skill, and still does in JA if you stick with one blade. To watch your enemy, hit him when he's most vulnerable. It was a patient game; in fact, twoskilled Jedi might not fight for long periods of time as they wait for theother to make a first move.
Jedi Academy is a blasphemy. It's not a bad game, but it's nothing likeJedi Knight II. Gone is the powerful story of Kyle seeking revenge forJan's death only to learn of a more sinister plot underway, and in itsplace is Tavion stealing 'Force Aura' from various places. Tavion wasn'tthe most challenging of foes in the previous installment, so why anyonesaw fit to put her here is beyond me. Though it is an interesting turn ofevents when you first see her -- the only interesting turn of events inthe game.
Lightsaber combat is odd. In some ways, it's improved -- the stab-roll forexample is a good addition, as is the sideways-roll-and-attack that NPCsin JK2 could do but not you. The various new wall run/grip tricks arepretty fun, though rarely serve a purpose beyond accidentally activatingand dropping you down a chasm.
However, the addition of the dual/staff sabers has ruined things a little. They truely are random. Unlike with a single blade, where if you press theattack button you get a single swing, the new sabers are truly random --click attack once, and you're launched into a time-consuming series ofuncontrollable spins, which though pretty aren't going to help much in abattle. And with the various completely random special moves these twohave, most notably the CROUCH + ATTACK + FORWARD attack of the staffweapon, it becomes even easier than just travelling around with Faststance's lunge move!
The Force powers are selectable, which is good. Though if they were goingto do it this way, they should have taken a leaf out of Jedi Knight 1'sbook (or .exe) and gone one further: your actions alter your status withthe dark and light sides. And once you finally become either a dark orlight Jedi, the other side's Force Powers should become useless, i.e.unselectable. Otherwise, there's little reason to make a choice other thanto see a different ending to the lacklustre story.
Everyone is amazed by the ability to change your character's appearence atthe start of the game. I think that in an interview right here it wasreferred to as 'unique' or 'original', possibly both (I forget). Well,it's not. Many RPG's -- including the recent, and excellent, SW: KotOR --have been doing this for a while. But they also allow you to changesomething substancial about your character, like their strength orstamina. The option to choose what colour your Jedi will be is nothingmore than a fashion statement -- and given that the choice is so limitedand has no bearing whatsoever on the game, it's reletively useless.
I would have much rather seen Raven continue the adventures of Kyle Katarnrather than have him sit this one out. But I think I'd have had a sourtaste left in my mouth afterwards, so I'm glad he had better things to dothis time around.
Of course, there are redeeming qualities. Although the main story islacking in substance, the individual missions, though short, are variedand fun to play as stand-alone games. My two favourites were the rescuemission gone wrong (Tremors, anyone?), which was quite interesting, andchance to visit the tomb of a Jedi.
As a mission pack, it'd have been OK. But it hasn't achieved what it setout to become. Anyone who knows me knows that I have placed Jedi Knight 2above Half-Life in my all-time favourite games list, so it's not a grudgeagainst the series I hold. Neither is it an anti-Star Wars thing. I likethe (old) movies fine. But this game is a let-down. An interestingdistraction, perhaps, and I'd probably have bought it even knowing thisjust for the odd gem of a mission. But by no means is it a great additionto the Jedi Knight series. I hope this isn't an omen; I liked the series.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I've gatta REALLY good feeling about this...
Following the success of Jedi Knight II:Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knigh:Jedi Academy gives you the best experience of how to be a jedi knight in this saber spinning, storme slicing "sequal"! Luke Skywalker is in charge of his Jedi Academy, located on Yavin 4. It trains students of the force to make them guardians of peace & justice of the New Republic-But there's always a villain. You are one of the the young jedi's eager to learn the ways of the force. To learn truly you must face the light as much as the dark, and you must make your choice...You get to build your own lightsaber from hilt(9 hilts to choose from)to blade colour(blue, green, purple, orange & yellow). You customise your own characters species & clothes. You battle a group of Ninja-Reborn's called Ragnos to learn their force striking plan that threatans the entire galaxy!
As a summary, I gave 5 stars because of the saber abilities(single, dual & double) and the ability to drive "vehicles" along with old & new stunning force powers. As for the story-line; the "script" is diffrent from Jedi Outcast although the enemies are alomost the same: Reborn's in Ninja futuristic looking outfits. But who cares? It's a Jedi Knight game where you get to fight a lot storme's & many other bad guys with your own custom-built lightsaber! If you enjoyed Jedi Outcast, order this game right away! If you are a Star Wars fan, BUY IT NOW!!!!
If you are not a Star Wars fan, watch the movies & then decide. It's a big galaxy out there, you may never know when another Darth Vader comes up! May the Force be with you...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - this game is really good, trust me i am a jedi
jedi acadamy was my first shoot em up and i love it!
it has:
a brilliant single player with inventive and varied missions and the choice of which mission you do next.
first of all you choose your character- what kind of head he has body- legs hair colour etc.
Then you choose your light sabre- the colour and your hilt style. Later on in the game you can change your fighting style but at the start you get no choice just standard.
The first mission is quite easy however the absence of a gun is annoying. This allows you to get good at your light saber skills though which you will definitely need in the coming missions.
Force powers: Force powers play a major role in jedi acadamy and some are quite fun to use, each force power is 1-3 levels, 3 being the best. First you get the basic ones: force jump, force push, force pull, force sense and force speed. They go up a level every time you complete a group of missions. then you have lots of other powers that you can choose to up grade at the start of every mission (you can only choose one)
I advise that you choose force heal, force protect or force lightning.
light saber duels, these are fun but require little effort as all you really need to do is keep on pressing the attack button.
Multi player is really good you can go on the internet against other players or you can play against bots in about 5 different locations.
Now is your chance to have a go at dueling with a double bladed or duel light sabers before you get that far in the game.
This game is not really a break through in pc gaming but is a thoughly enjoyable game. So quick go out and buy it and I hope you have as much enjoyment as I a have had.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - cool!!
I had heard good things about the jedi knight series and i am a star wars fan so I thought it would be fun 2 get.
First thing was how much disk space it took up (loads!!) also it didnt work with my graphics card so i had 2 play it on my dads pc.
How ever once i got the game working it was great! on the first lvl u get thrown straight into the action, u hav to get from ur ship 2 the temple. there were just these anoying bugs that scream and for some reason that hurts u. any way u only have a light-saber at that point so getting up 2 them before they screamed was anoyingly difficult and i found my self wishing for a gun.
but on the next lvl i discovered that having no shoot em up experance at all i couldnt do any thing with a gun. luckly if u have ur light saber out it deflects bolts automaticly also the sound of siziling flesh is quite nice for sum reason.
the missions are quite easy 2 start with and comprise of very simple find a key or lever and get back 2 ur ship how ever after a while they get increasingly difficult.
light saber battles: the saber on saber fights look brilliant but they are quite easy, if u have a old 2d boxing game and remeber the random button pressing u will no what i am talking about.

force powers: these are vitall because u need them for most missions. u hav ur basic skills: f jump f speed f pull f push f sense they all have 3 lvls the pre mentioned basic ones go up every time u complete a set of missions. the rest u can add lvls 2- one at the beggining of a mission (i advise getting force heal up first because med paks are few and in odd places and then force lightining cos there are later lvls were u dont get weapons.)

Multi player: very good 5/5 a+
u can play against bots or players on internet
u can chose ur lvl of force skill (jedi master is best ovoisily)
and u can be boba fett and chewbacca
and u can have duel light sabers or a double bladed- u get this in single player 2 but not for ages.
over all it is is really good and the sound and graphics are great, i sugest u get off ur but and go and buy it right now!
