- Good but lacks in replay value
I love this game. It's fun, colourful and beautifully created. The graphics are great and you have a lot of choice in characters. Driving is fun especially when you join up with others but then I did get a bit bored with it after a week and that's why I gave it 4 stars - if you like lots of new challenges then your better off with a game such as F-Zero.

- Not Worth The Wait
After all the hype, after all the waiting....what a let down. First appearances matter most, and Double Dash is quite simply, plain. The backdrops are very ordinary, and some of the textures on the tracks have clearly been badly converted from another source.
But never mind, what does it play like? Dreadfully. Has this game been through QA?
Miss it.

- Mario Kart Double Dash-Best Game Ever!
Mario Kart 64 was great, but there were no hidden features! MKDD has tons of special features like secret characters, levels and items. It also has way better graphics and gameplay. Boo, Petey Pihrana, Bowser Jr, there are all here! Even Koopa has returned from the original!
If you hae gamecube, get this game!
If you don't have gamecube, get one and get this game!

At first when i began to play this game i thought it was a bit dissapointing the steering was funny and it was too slow. After about half an hour i realised that it wasnt that bad. When you get to 150cc class the game speeds up considerably.
The two character to one kart idea is nice and works well but it dosent add as much depth to the game as i would have liked it to. One good thing about it though is that you have to decide which characters to choose depending on their weight, special item and also the vehicle they can drive.
The multiplayer in this game is good but not amazing. Out of the two new additions since the last game Shine Thief is the better. The other one Bomb-omb Blast is fun but a bit too linear.
When playing the 150cc mode the game seems a bit too random, you often get shot by blue shells that cant be avoided and other things.
Overall a good game but seeing as it was made about 5 years after Mario Kart64 it hasnt improved vastly. If you are looking for a good mulitplayer party game buy this. If you want a proper single player racer without the silly weapons and tonnes more speed buy F-Zero GX you certainly wont be dissapointed.

This has been one of the most eagerly anticipated games in recent months, and now it's here, it's everything we could have wanted.
For those who don't know, the classic Mario Kart format has been changed so that each kart contains 2 people; one driving and one using the weapons. This adds a new dimension of strategy into the game, and owners will spend time road-testing combinations of racers and cars (of which there are a lot) to get their perfect combination.
The actual handling depends on the car chosen, with the selected characters deciding which special weapons (another new addition to the series) can be picked up. The new special weapons include a chain-chomp, bob-ombs and a giant green shell.
The multiplayer, classically the main selling point of Mario Kart games, is brilliant; fast and furious, with certain tracks packing the racers into tight spaces, where you need to keep an eye on your opponents screen to avoid being hit from behind. The new co-op mode is fun with four players on two karts, but other than that you probably won't use it much.
Overall, this game manages to brilliantly meet expectations, and will provide huge enjoyment to everyone!
