- Brilliant! Until you make comparisons...
As a standalone title, this game would be excellent. However, as soon as you compare it to N64 Mario Kart, its poor. Yes, the graphics are better, but the fun is gone. N64 Mario Kart is a game I still enjoy in Multiplayer, and play often with friends. This is a list of problems with the new one:
1. You cant drag items, meaning defending your kart is very awkward.
2. The battle mode levels are tiny!!!!!!! 'Big Donut from Mario Kart 64 took about 30 seconds to do a circuit of, whereas 'Cookie Land' on DDash, with a similar layout, takes about 4 seconds (No, really!).
3. The powerslide (an essential factor) is harder to control.
4. The powerslide is not started with a jump, so you cant use the jump to avoid items like bananas.
5. The battle mode levels are totally boring (One is just an open square!!! one is like block fort, except you cant go on the blocks!!!
Overall, this game feels more like diddy kong racing than mario kart. If you liked the N64 Mario Kart, be prepared to be disappointed.

I had very high expectations for this game, I was one of those people who bought it on the first day of release. However I was quite disappointed when I actually got down to playing the game. The tracks are quite bland, the handling of some of the karts is awful and worst of all - the multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode has gone through a severe downgrade in my opinion. The battle courses are virtually all flat and any sense of actual skill being involved in them anymore has disappeared; it is now simply a case of rapidly pressing the fire button - yawn. Also the weapons in one player mode now have less of an effect. For example bannanas now barely slow karts down at all and only the most powerful of weapons such as a chain chomp have enough of an effect to make them worthwile. I have actually found it possible to win the hardest cup in the game without using any weapons! Still despite all these flaws Mario Kart is still a solid, fun game and the co-operative grand prixs will keep you coming back for a long while. Now excuse me I'm going to sell my Gamecube to get an N64 and its respective Mario Kart (Still the best one ever!)

I wanted to love this game I really did but was very disappointed. I was there for the original SNES version and was hoping that they would bring back the glory of racing to double dash. Sadly it is a repeat of the N64 version though graphically far more enhanced.
However it would make a good party game, as it is very easy to pick up and play. Just don’t expect any in-depth intense racing as its original predecessor.
My advice is play before you buy!

Once this game had hit the shelves there were crowds of people around it; including me!
It is a wonderful experience to race with 16 characters in a race, seeing each of the pairs of the 16 switching to the wheel! Character traits are also switched when the character is switched from the wheel to the back. For example: If you have a light character such as Toad (A character which is small and is very light) driving, and switch Toad with a heavy character such as Wario (A heavy character which is a sort of counter of Mario), the traits get switched and the car becomes heavy!
Nintendo has worked ages perfecting this Excellent! game, and Double Dash!! shall come far in the gaming industry, Thumbs Up!

When I was a wee little nipper, dad brought home a SNES, plugged in 'super mario kart' and my addiction was born. Ten years on, the grand master of the gaming world Shigeru Miyamoto gave us a second lil' taste of magic. We sat on our seats grinding our teeth wating eagerly for double dash to be released. Now it's with us, and our gaming lust an be sated. Double dash is not a racing game. It is in league of its own. FURIOUS addictive and vibrant gameplay. Graphics so sleek that you could shine a shoe with them. THE sound is brilliant too. As the shells fire you hear the koopas inside rattling with mischevious joy. The graphics are perfect, it's why they made the console. Double dash ain't for gamecube. Gamecube is for Double dash. But why were all after it is the character combo system ( in the name :) Pick any two characters from the new cast ( Baby bowser and diddy kong ) and a car ( no more go karts, personalised veichles are home) Switch racers at any time to manage weapons. New courses, new racers AND the first MK title with unlockables. Buy this game at the amazon sale price of thirty pounds ( Those sharks from retail charge u forty) dont have thirty? Sell your house! Sell your car! Sell your mum! Your life is GARBAGE without this game!
