Video Games : Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

- not as good as MGS1 or 2, but less convoluted in terms of plot than MGS2
For those of you who have played MGS2, you will know how convoluted the plot became towards the end. In MGS3, there isn't so many plot twists and over the top-phiosophical banter (although I never had a clue what The Boss was going on about at the end :/), but rather the story is more straight forward and ironed out.
In MGS3, you play Naked Snake, Snake's father in the Siberian Jungle circa. 1960s. One of the most unconventional features of this game is that you have to kill and catch your own food in the jungle to keep stamina up- one of the Boss fights is based around keeping stamina up to avoid loosing.
Dissapointing though, I really wanted an immediate continuation of MGS2.

If i wanted to watch a film i would do so, this game has too much video shots in it and hardly any game play. long video clips every turn about, if you die in a certain bit, u have to rewatch the entire video all over again.

MINT! You should buy this game even if you are new to mgs series or have no love for stealth games, one of the best games I have EVER played!

Graphics-10/10 (outstanding for a PS2 game)
SFX & Music-11/10 (opening score & rest of music is incredible for a game)
Gamplay-10/10 (there are so many ways to approach each area)
Lifespan-10/10
Summary-The quality of this game is better than any other game i've seen on the PS2

i was introduced to the metal gear series last year when my mate let me borrow his gamecube along with metal gear 'the twin snakes', the remake of the ps1 classic. initially i thought the gameplay was average but when you get it into it, combined with the movies, unbelievable.
i like many others believed 2 to be a dissapointment, playing as raiden over snake for 95% of the game, soul destroying, haha.
snake eater was a risk, as it was opening the environment to a woodland landscape over industrial complexes, this was a breath of fresh air. (hah???)
for ps2 the graphics are awe inspiring and the movies are in a word beautiful. the gameplay remains similar but with a more freedom based approach, having to catch your own food is an example of this.
the boss battles were incredible, fast pased and adrenaline filled.
even if you havnt played metal gear before, this one is set before the others so you wont be missing anything to buy this first.
all in all exceptional
