- This isn't just a game... it's a crafted classic
Even though I never bought this game off amazon, I bought this game a while ago and there's just one word to describe it - brilliant.
It's like Sony's version of The Legend Of Zelda, only set in the future. At the beginning of the game, clank crash lands on ratchet's home planet, veldin. Ratchet goes to get clank, who's sleeping. As soon as clank wakes up, he shows ratchet an infobot, showing ratchet about an evil plan by Supreme Executive Chairman Drek which is about him destroying all the planets in the solana galaxy. In the game, you explore 19 massive worlds, full of things to do. Mostly in the game, you play as ratchet, but at 2 parts in the game (yes, 2 - isn't enough) you get to play as clank. You get loads of weapons and gadgets, fighting your way through the planets to reach Chairman Drek, who at the end of the game, plans to destroy your home planet, veldin.
I think Insonamic has crafted a great classic, and the original makes me want to buy number 2 (yes, i'm late, but i'm finally buying it). But the only problem is that you only get to play as clank 2 times in the game. It feels like he gets left out.
But anyway, go earn some money. Sell your couch, your phone or any other thing, as this is one game you SIMPLY MUST OWN.

This is game is undoubtedly good, but I feel it is not quite as good as the ratchet and clank 2 and 3. The gmaplay and camera controls are not quite as detailed. Also, the enemies are all slightly samey.
Ratchet and Clank does still have many good points: A great storyline, loveable characters and a huge array of weapons.
However, it doesn't quite match up to the newer games.
Rating: - The second best series I have ever known
The R&C series has kept me entertained for years and yeasr on end. The first game in the series was no exception to the franchises success. Chairman Drek's world is too polluted and he needs to find another suitable world to live on; so he goes out destroying other worlds to get the neccessary parts to make his own. In the robot factories where he is making his minions there is an error and a new robot is made, small and intelligent. Clank races and away and is pursued by guards. Clank crashes on Ratchet's world and pursuades Ratchet to help him find a hero stop Drek.
Later in the game we that Captain Qwark (the hero) is working for Drek and can not help. R&C go on to stop Drek by themselves.
The game is packed ful of fun and extras, suxh as the skins and mini-games. The massive array of weapons is an attribute to the game that would be dearly missed. Some weapons are: the glove of doom, the tesla claw, the taunter, th devastor and the pyrocator.
The second best series ever and this is the second best game in the series, only behing R&C 2. The only series that is better is the original spyro series, which I would recomend; I hope it gives as many happy ours as it gave me!

I'm a big fan of action platformers and I can happily say I wasn't disappointed with this one.
The game all evolves round 2 characters Ratchet and Clank.Clank is some sort of high IQ robot that guides the big eared tiger sorta character Ratchet. They must work together to stop Chairman Drek from killing off worlds to save us own.
In the game Ratchet is able to upgrade his abilities via Clank in the form of bolts, Bolts are the currency in the game.
The level design is fun and has massively playable areas, with plenty to do and kill and interact with.
The graphics and sound are both extremely good and very well thought out and mirror the game perfectly.
The upgradable items as well are imaginative and different to other games - The glove of doom is fantastic.
In all the average gamer should be able to complete this in about 15 hrs, but this aside there are also the infamous gold bolts and skill points that open new items/video's etc. So the playabilty is massive. If you are going to get this I strongly recommend you save, as once you've played it you'll have to buy number 2 and 3.

Ratchet and clank has to be one of the best games ever! It has brilliant graphics,cool weapons and gadgets, loads of amazing worlds and challanges and much more! I can't see a bad side to this game. No really, I can't.
You can be both ratchet and clank, but clank is only playable when ratchet can't be used. This was my first ps2 game, and I've got all the other ratchet and clank games. If you love weapons and gadgets, flying spaceships and generally blowing stuff up, then you'll love this game, but I think this game is good for everyone!
