- Maybe the 1500 is better?
I walk the dog a lot and take my radio everywhere with me. For a portable device it feels heavy! Functionality of the controls is fine and easy to use, even when wearing gloves. Perceived quality is reasonable and it is quite rugged, having already survived numerous drops (due to catching the ridiculously long headphones lead needed - see comments below). The reception when compared to FM in my area is poor (unlike my previous Philips DAB that died!) I found that the only solution to the reception problems was to spend another £30 spent on a set of decent Sony headphones (to replace the poor standard offerings) and a 1-metre extension lead to improve the signal reception. Whilst it works, I keep catching the lead on everything because it is now so bloomin' long!
I now use 2700MaH batteries x3 and they provide about 8hrs useable battery life.
Would I recommend one to others? I let a colleague borrow mine for a day and he returned it saying that he kept losing the signal so would stick to his trusty old Sony FM - so the answer is No.

I was a bit wary of buying this after some of the reviews but it has been absolutely brilliant. I bought some rechargeable batteries due to the heavy battery drain, apart from that it has been excellent. I take it to the football with me every weekend to keep up to date with the other games and 5 live on dab is a real treat.
I have had only one bad experience with reception on a train journey of all things.I had full reception from S Wales to Bristol (except in the tunnels!)but from Bristol to Leeds nothing it may have been the train (Virgin)but I had no reception not even in Birmingham. Apart from that it is brilliant can't wait for the rest of Europe to catch up to take on hols. Well worth the money.

Tried an analogue radio at first and couldn't get any reception from my house, so thought DAB would be worse but decided to give it a go anyway. Very impressed with this radio. It's extremely easy to use, fantastic design and I can actually get a decent reception. The sound is very good too. I would imagine that if reception were poor, it would be no use to anyone, but reception has proved better than a normal analogue radio, so a thumbs up to this one.

I have had the Pure dab for 12 months and find it has been an excellent product. Great reception and gives a wide range of stations - great sound and easy to move through the stations. The 'Favourites' and preset station faclilty is really good. The only slight criticism is that I don't get the 16 hours on batteries but I usually use the adaptor as I generally use the radio at work. Definitely recomment it as a great buy.
