- Excellent controller, a nice alternative to the original.
This is better suited to young children or anyone with small hands, the size is closer to that of the Sony Playstation controller, but still somewhat bigger. What puzzles me is why the original larger controller is no longer being sold, Microsoft spent a fortune designing, testing and manufacturing it, and it's still the best controller in the world for fps and action games. However the S controller is much better for games that require rapid repetitive use of the coloured buttons such as,for example; Soccer and boxing games, because the buttons are flat on this controller compared to the original Xbox controller; they they don't bite into your thumb after a while, try playing a boxing or football game with the original controller and you'll feel like a nails been hammered through your thumbnail after 15 mins.
I actually think the original larger controller is better for action games, the triggers are stiffer, giving a more realistic gun trigger experience, and the general size of it sits much better in an adults hands, with better positioning of the black and white buttons, but for racing and sports games the S controller is the way to go, it's just so much easier on your hands, the triggers aren't as tight, ideal for holding down permanently for long periods when playing racing games, and as stated before; better for rapid button pressing in frantic sports type games.
And finally,the build quality is outstanding, so if your looking to add a second controller for your Xbox and have never tried this one, buy with confidence, it's excellent.

It depends on what you get used to - if you have large hands you will probably use the original, larger one a lot easier then small-handed people like myself.
The first time I used an Xbox, I had the big controller and I found it to be immediately difficult to hold on to the pad and move my fingers around, but after a while I got used to it and it became easier. When I used a smaller one though, there was no uncomfortablness, it was easy and very comfy. I could play four hours and my hands wouldn't get cramped and I didn't feel the need to stretch them.
A very good design, whoever did come up with the design was a genius. It has a place for all your fingers and thumbs.
Rating: - Superb....Unless you wanna play Tony Hawks :-(
Much like the Gamecube controller, the XBox one is terrible for Tony Hawks. Get yerself a PS2 controller and adapter if you wanna play that!
Having said that, the "S" is an EXCELLENT controller and in a lot of respects it's far better than the cheap lightweight PS2 controllers. Compare them to see for yourself - I never noticed it before but the PS2 buttons are really limp and offer no real resistance when pressed. The "S" feels a lot more sturdy and fits your hand better too. I'll give particular mention to the far superior positioning of the analogue pads over the PS2s which I find my fingers slip off quite a lot (usually with driving or footy games).
Overall a must for all XBox users (and PC users). How would you enjoy Halo otherwise?!

The Xbox controller, redesigned for the Japanese market, and then re-branded for Europe.
As an 'official controller', there is nothing to fault in the Controller-S's build quality. The analogue sticks and buttons are just as good as those of the original controller. The D-pad is different than the original, but of a similar quality. The Controller S has none of the fragile, unresponsive feel that some third-party controllers have.
The Controller-S is smaller and lighter than the original controller, with a button layout designed to be easier on those with small thumbs. If you're an adult male, chances are you'll find this controller a little too small, but still usable. If your hands are larger than average, you'll find it harder to use than the original controller: the black/white and start/back buttons are hard to reach, being further back than the thumb can comfortably stretch to. Similarly, the D-pad and right analogue stick are more of a stretch than on the original controller. On the plus-side, the colour buttons are further apart, and harder to 'fat-finger'.
I'd recommend this over the original controller to anyone with children, and anyone with a liking for the playstation controller. I'd recommend the original controller over this to anyone who finds the playstation controller, or Microsoft's range of Sidewinder joysticks uncomfortably small.

This controller really is brilliant. It fits snuggly into your hands and is just the right size. A lot of people think that Xbox controllers are terrible, and i would have to say that the original controller was to bulky, but this dinky little number really sorts out that problem.
I, at the moment, am in the transition phase from Sony PS2, to Microsoft's Xbox, and this controller makes it a lot easier, to change from PS2's tiny controllers to these.
