- Reasonable, but not for those with glasses
This is a fairly solid headset. The sound quality on both the earpiece and microphone are perfectly acceptable. I've had no problems with the headset breaking, and some clever positioning turns the setup into a neck-mounted microphone for those who like to use headphones on Xbox Live (being sure to set voice to Speakers Only, of course). The boom for the microphone is fairly easy to position.
Unfortunately the headset isn't particularly comfortable if you happen to wear glasses. The legs of the headset insist on tangling around, shifting, or pressing in on the legs of my own glasses which gets painful enough to annoy within an hour or so.
If you've tried the Live headset and found it to be comfortable, there's no logical reason not to buy this as a replacement. If it gets on your nerves, though, the Halo 2 headset may be worth considering.

As previous people have mentioned the problem with the official xbox headset is that when connected the microphone/headband connection is far too weak, one false move or removing it too quickly and hey-presto it is broken!! The best thing is to get one of the newer all-in-one headset which are far sturdier!!

The microphone and earpiece part of the the headset is first class - they work well and the headset is comfortable to wear. It's when they suddenly decide to take leave of each other and break apart, that's the problem. I've had two so far and they're horribly easy to break, a single, brittle plastic hook holding them together. I think I'll plump for a Planatronic X20 headset next time.

I found this headset had ok sound quality and an ok microphone, but then i snapped the microphone part. Warning it breaks very easily, i had heard about this but it still happened to me, it was also not very comfortable when wearing it for long periods of time i have heard good reports about the Plantronics GameCom X20 but you need the black plug-in bit that came with the communicator.

As this is the offical headset, its the only one that comes with the communicator - the part that u plug into the microphone. but apart from that, its not that gr8. One of the main problebs is that its easily breakble. The best thing to do is clip the ear peice to your prefered side of the head band and then use (lots of) tape to hold it firmly in place so its well protected. I did this with my new one and so far its suvived.
now that theirs some decent 3rd party headsets out their, Id think about buying them instead.
