Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Test proves that wristband doesn't work but that latex gloves do!
It has been said by a reviewer on here that it's hard to prove if such a device will work, on the contrary it can be quite easily and quickly tested using a cheap household multimeter.

I bought one of these (to be fair it was a quick delivery and was very well packaged) and carried out a test with my multimeter. Testing both unprotected and then being 'grounded' with the Belkin wristband showed no difference in electrostatic voltage and in both cases the multimeter read (at that time of measurement) 32.00 millivolts.

On the other hand and out of curiousity, I thought I'd see what the reading would be by wearing a cheap pair of disposable latex gloves (the type that you can often buy with 100 in a box). The reading was 0.02 millivolts! The gloves practically zero'd the electostatic voltage on my hands proving an outstanding method for use with electrical components.

Conclusion: Forget about this wristband and wear a pair of disposable latex gloves, it is also far more practical as there is no cable attaching you to the computer case etc. If you want proof of my claim use a multimeter and you will see for yourself. To do this have your left hand's thumb and index finger pinch the negative probe (black) and have your right hand's thumb and index finger pinch the positive probe (red), set to the 200mV scale on the multimeter and you are ready to conduct the tests.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - pretty handy little thing
woke up to find a huge cardboard box outside my room, wondering what it could be, i ripped the box apart to find the anti static wrist strap, which was a bit odd seeing as they needed a arms length box to fit it in, either way, i got it the next day, even ordering at round about 5ish.
I had never sued one of these before, but its really really easy, works like a charm and fits all wrist sizes, and it can stretch pretty far, and it doesn't get in the way.
worth getting if your doing a lot of pc building or other electrical work that doesn't have another method of grounding yourself.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A useful product.
I'll admit that it's hard to prove that such a device is working, but prior to purchasing this, I did manage to destroy the occasional DDR memory module. Since using it, components that I have installed have not suffered static damage.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - A deal is a deal... they shouldn't change their minds about the price.
ordered it for 1p + 4.50 p&p, and got an email message few days later that it was out of stock, with the order dissapeared from My Accounts order history (so I can't leave feedback).
But I clicked a link in the email notification, and here it is, still for sale, but for 1.95! Looks like they changed their minds about the price.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good value (though mine was a gift!) and comfortable
I received one of these as a Christmas gift from my wife a couple of years ago. I keep it in its box on top of my PC's case and so am never tempted to open the case without using it.

I'm not sure what it cost, but delivery wasn't an issue because I know it was purchased in a computer store that's just a ½-hour walk from here.

The strap is comfortable to use. I'm not sure I've ever had an ESD problem ruin any PC parts, but I've had a few bits and pieces of PC kit fail over the years and one new CPU, too (replaced at no extra cost to me by the local computer shop -- their first query was where did I get my WinXP from, as though a pirated piece of software was to blame, but they changed their tune when I reminded them I'd bought the WinXP upgrade from them!). I'm not sure if errant handling was to blame or if it was a dodgy processor.

Prior to owning this wristband, I used the "always touch the case first" rule, and I suppose I still do, out of habit, but I've installed quite a bit of kit wearing the wristband and haven't had any problems.
