Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Fun at a gastronomical price
It is classic zelda. Fun, with good puzzles and a super storyline, they are all the backbone of a great zelda game. That is why I hated Wind waker and Legend of zelda II. They had no great puzzles. They both had awful storylines. This is a return to the solidarity of Link to the past. Every time you complete a dungeon, you feel like you've achieved something, like you've won, like you've beat the unbeatable. That is how a zelda game should play. All the fantastic zelda's have made you feel like this. Twilight princess, link to the past, the original and not forgetting majora's mask and the almighty ocarina of time. Four swords is no different. In single player there is a good accuracy, what with you having to control 4 characters, you'd think it would be fiddly, but it isn't. But multi-player is where it is at. Although a set up with 4 GBA's, 4 link cables, a copy of the game and a gamecube is very, very pricey, it is the proper way to play and if you manage to set it up and then gather 3 friends you could be having shed loads of fun. And it is fun. You can watch as your mate falls down a hole, laugh, and then nick all his money that he dropped. It super fun if you can set it up. Overall, you should buy this. Or you could get 4 copies of link to the past and play 4 swords on there. Either way four swords is worth playing at least once.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great game
I love the zelda games, im not to good at games in general. but zelda i can do. if your a fan buy this game, it rocks!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Includes cable
First off this game is really quite brilliant and amamazing fun in multiplayer especially with the mini eponas.
But I also thought it was important to make clear that the version of four swords amazon is selling DOES include a gameboy to gamcube link cable as they do not mention it anywhere in the information.
Just saying because there no point buying more cables than you need.
I hope this information is useful.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Looks great, plays easy
Ok, before anyone jumps down my throat, I have no reservations about how the game looks. I loved the golden days of Zelda games, and personally found Ocarina..+Windwaker a little... un-Zelda-ish.

Anyway, this game looks just like the old ones, but with some nice updated lighting effects and Young-Link-style sprites (wow, sprites, nevermind polygons :) those of you who dont think you like the old school, almost-plan-view 2D cartooniness need not buy this game - your all idiots and youre missing out, but I wont waste my time telling you that :)

Now onto the downside. As has been pointed out, multiplayer requires a GBA/SP and link cable per player. This is a bit pricey, but those of us who kept our loyalty to nintendo (despite some shocking releases) can smile smugly while the rest of ya decide if you think its worth it. The GBA integrates really well, although sometimes you dont know which screen to look at. Personally, I'd like to see more GC games with this feature, e.g each player's 1st person view on GBAs with a map on the GC screen might work for Metroid. Its certainly interesting.

I can tell you it is worth it - in my opinion this game is designed for multiplayer, and is a lot more fun played that way. Single player, the puzzles involve a lot of going back and forth to take small steps; small steps quickly accomplished with two or more people playing.

This takes me on to my final point, and the one that left me most disappointed: This is NOT an old Zelda game. That sounds obvious, but what I mean to say is that it doesnt compare to the older games like Link to the Past (from which a lot of the bosses/puzzles and style are borrowed) simply because it is too easy. The arcade-style, level-based gameplay breaks up your adventure into smaller stages, and you come away with a much less immersive experience, with a lot less replay value - most levels cant be completed without finding everything in the level, so theres no chance of discovering a new cave after two years of playing :)

Nevertheless, this game IS a lot of fun, and if youve already got your GBAs and a friend or two to play it with, its well worth getting. If you prefer Link in 3D, wait till this summer.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Multi-Player Heaven!
This is one of the best Muiltiplayer experiances ever. Work as a team to get through the level and befeat the boss.

With its slick gameplay and great graphics, it really is one of the best games money can buy around now.

Using the GBA - Gamecube function it works really well. Like when you playing in a big game with your friends and you go into a dungeon, insted of it going split screen it appears on you GBA screen. Although this is a very BIG downfall of the game, as to play four player, you will need four GBA's, alot like Final Fantasy: Cyrstal Chronicals. So this makes the game very very pricey.

It does lack in Single player mode though, no where near as good as the multi-player. You must controll all four links at the same time, and guid them through the level alot like the multi-player version but not as fun.

So heres the end rating:

Graphics: 9/10.

Gameplay: 10/10

Life: 10/10 if you play multi, 7/10 on single.

Overall: 9/10
