Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I might be biased...
I mean...I'm big into brand loyalty and I've never really had any desire to own an X box, gamecube or an X box 360...but even back when the PSX, N64 and dreamcast were around, all of which I owned, I always got a better feeling playing the playstation. It's the same with the PS2, it isn't about the graphics or the sound quality (which, quite frankly, are very good and people need to stop freaking out because their game doesn't look and sound like real life) it's about the gameplay: the controls seem to be much simpler than other consoles, it's just fun...and surely that's all you look for in a games console. I know that people are notorious for supporting the underdog, but I genuinely think that it is the best of its kind.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Coming from someone with a 360
Well first off I must say I own a 360 and many of the top games for it. I didn't ask for a PS2 but it was worth it. The graphics aren't amazing but many iof the games on the PS2 are ones that are lacking on any other console. Series like Final Fantasy only truely grace the PS2 making it a joy to play some of the legendary games that shaped modern gaming.

It is extremely lightweight and doesn't make a 'peep' which is a refreshing change to consoles like the 360.

The best reason to buy this is easily the price. If you don't own a PS2 it is worth having. The games are cheap, the console is cheap and ultimately, the fun is cheap. Why must we continue to pay £45 when a PS2 has longer, high-quality games at a fraction of the price.

From a huge xbox fan. This is a must-have!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - good to a certain point
I thought I might want a slimline instead of the old bulky older version of the ps2 so i borrowed for my friend for a month

GOOD PART

it is lightweight small and a lot more presentable than the old version

BAD PART

where to start? the disc tray has been changed and has the ps1 function of opening it, this is good because if you are in a hurry to get a game out of the console and take it to a party however for no aparent reason you have to push really hard on the cd to get it in the spinning cirlce when it would make more sense for it to be a loose because man does it scratch your discs when inserting the disc and when it is being played

also it is a little too light! do not put it on a table beacuse when your just about to win the champion of this 3 day course on GT4 and the control is moving like lighting in the air it will pull your playstaion with it! instead of the contorller being pulled out of it's socket this is bad because to high on a desk and you'll be crying with the playstation in one hand and the the disc tray lid in the other

nice idea but well could have been better!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - brilliant-great value for money-great fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Having been asked what i would like for christmas ,i decided on the new simline pink playstation 2.my brother said why not get a wii or playstation 3 or an xbox 360,but i still wanted a ps2.why i here you shout ......... the games are fantastic (i especially like eye toy ,singstar and buzz),it can also play dvds and cds, the grapics are good(maybe not as could as the newer consoles but still fantastic),and its great value for money (the new xbox 360s are nearly £300 if you want the headset and speial cables, wheras my mum has only payed £150 for my playstation 2(which includes singstar and microphones,as well as a travel bag,).i personally think the playstation 2 is still going strong in its later years and still has plenty more to offer the gaming world.dont give up one this little beauty you've not seen the last of them. playstation 2 are also very quiet so you dont have noise fans buzzing over the sounds in the games.the new slimline version fits very snuggly next to my tv ,so im not constantly getting told to put it away or tidy up the wires. It never over heats .and finally the cost of games is going down so you can have a large collection with out needing a loan (most xbox 360 games are around £40 ,wheras playstation 2 are around £20 - £30).be prepared to see more from the playstation 2 in 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - PS2 is not worth buying
Having had a PS2 once and having an Xbox 360 outdoes the PS2 tremendously.
The amount of features the Xbox 360 has is next gen in comparison to the PS2 and having read another review from the other person saying get a PS2 isntead of an Xbox 360 I must say that is a very very poor review indeed.
Any gamer that enjoys games in this new era wants new next gen features therefore rather than wasting £79.99 on something that could infact be used due to its size as a tea rest get an Xbox 360 instead.
