Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Off the ball control....they forgot on the ball
I was very excited when I bought Fifa 2004 hoping it would be a significant improvement on the last Fifa. However, I was very disappointed with this game. There are new features and game modes as you would expect, but yet again these fail to shine. There is an all new career mode in which you lead your chosen team through five seasons whilst mildly handling training and signing new players etc, an all new training mode and a new feature called "off-the-ball control." This allows you to control two players simaltaneously at the press of a button by using the right analogue stick to control the player not in possesion of the ball. This might seem a good idea but most players will never use this after they have tested it, because it often leads to you losing the ball as it requires you looking at two different players at once. The tackling system is also terrible and very unrealistic. It is far too easy to gain possesion by pressing the "b" button which means that it is almost impossible to run past players, so when you are closed down by the opposition you have no choice other than to get rid of the ball ASAP or lose it to your opponent. These are all massive flaws, however, the thing that annoyed me the most of all was that there is no custom tournaments. You can play in cups with up to 8 players e.g FA Cup, League Cup, but you cannot create a custom league. Considering career mode is one player only and in the last Fifa game you could do 2 player seasons where you went Man Utd and your friend went Leeds and you could play as many seasons as you liked with the cup and Champions League included as you battled each other for the Premeirship Title, this is extremely disappointing. As to why the boys from EA have taken this out, I have no idea, but what I do know is that this game is a massive disappointment. I would urge you not to by this game and rent it first, if even that.

fifa 2004 is one of the best fifa games avilable. the scorelines are great with high scores like 9-0, like 2003 with 9-0, but 2002 was the easyest with 32-0 against liverpool.
2004 realy lets you get that "my club is the best" type of feeling.
2004 is the most challinging yet, if 2005 is better then it's a must have game like this one.
and more choice of teams way not start in division three and move on up.
