- Better than the expensive consoles!
Forget paying stupid amounts of money on 'next gen graphics', it's simply not worth the money. Use half of that money to buy a Wii! You'll have 10 times more fun and lose a lot more weight rather than gain it. This is the ultimate gaming system for people of all ages. Play your granny at golf or your cousin at tennis and the tears of laughter will be dripping everywhere.

the wii definetly has an original fun experience but the only problem is its lack of games. The ps3 and xbox 360 have more of a selection of games.

PS3 and 360 owners - please stop harping on about the graphics and performance. The Wii was never mean't to compete with the next gen consoles and it never will, nintendo saw a niche in the market which was to entice people who previously had no experience or little interest in console gaming. You only have to look at the majority of titles for the wii - they are simple, fun and above all easy to get into even for first time gamers. I see the Wii has the party/family console, in terms of power it is not a million miles away from the old gamecube but its the controller that makes the difference which is great although on some games you still can't beat a good old gamepad.
THE GOOD: Incredibly easy to use, best console for young kids by far. Excellent for parties etc. Good Value for money. Backward compatible with gamecube games. Full downloadable catalogue of retro games. Some very unique games not available on other consoles.
THE BAD: Graphics have'nt been evolved much since the gamecube. Control system expensive. Tiny internal memory, as yet only SD memory cards available (but there is talk of a external HD which will then make the console as expensive as a ps3 £299). Still no DVD? Serious titles a bit thin on the ground with many titles being direct ports from other consoles ie PS2 - therfore not taking advantage of the wii.
Overall I like the wii for quick bursts of fun but I would'nt want to have it has my only console.

some people are complaining about there wiimote smashing there tv's...it's clearly there fault...
anyway the wii is a great new idea, and has alot of great fetures i.e the wii channels

this is basicly a menu were the user can browse the internet, make mii's check news, vote in weekly polls, check weather over 5 day periods, and shop channel, to buy old games on n64 and snes. great. wii love it!
you can also update the menu (if you have wi-fi) if there are any changes nintendo may have made to this new user interface.
the wii it's self is an amazing new idea, the sensor reacts to you movement instantly! the games are truly wonderful. and the fetures are awsome. if your a very "gahh im gonna kill this guy" sorta person, the wii is still for you, (call of duty, res evil ect.) but the wii isn't greatly for that style, but still plays them well
disapointments
you'll be pleased to know there are none really, graphics arn't as good as PS3's of course but still great. ps3 is for you if you like sport games, and dissapointing gameplay and fetures.(which i'm sureyou don't want)
the xbox 360 is great, for shoot em'up's. but the wii. is for everyone.
wii in japanese means everyone, in france it means yes! and the wii really is somthing to scream yes about! £179 inc wii sports. great price.great console

I recently bought a Wii for my 25 year old daughter who then decided she didn't want it, so I ended up with it. Everywhere had sold out and were saying there wouldn't be any more deliveries until after Christmas. I found one on Amazon and paid well over the odds.... £285.
As a serious gamer I wouldn't have bought one for myself. It's best to go for a PS3 or Xbox, both of which I own. It's definately for kids and family fun NOT for someone like myself. Wii sports was fun for about 10 minutes.
I'd say the graphics are about the same as the PS2 but as yet there aren't enough games for the more serious gamer. I bought Resident Evil 4 (I already have it for the PS) and initially struggled with the controls (See my review for this one). I also got Sonic and the Secret Rings as I loved this on the Megadrive. What a let down!
I've given this 5 stars because I should imagine it would warrant that if I had small kids but all in all I wish I'd not bothered. In my opinion I've wasted £285 and it's going to be stuck in it's box unless someone needs one for the kids at Christmas.
