- Great motivation for folk with chronic pain and limited mobility!
The Wii console is excellent for anyone of any age. It is fun to play, simple and addictive as you try to beat high scores or compete against the family. On top of that, I have very low mobility, and on my better days I can decide at any time to turn on the Wii and get some well needed exercises! My husband and I play it more and it is a great social focus for having nephews, cousins, family, friends over! Best of all it costs less than most other consoles out there. I have never been much of a Nintendo fan, but I am now hooked! So if you are struggling with health, physical or emotional, GO FOR IT - it will cheer you up and give you motivation and exercise.
Rating: - Reflections after 2 months of ownership
It's rare to spend £200 and not to have a moment's regret, but the Wii has been the exception for me. From the moment I set it up, it's really earned its keep in our house. The kids love it and so do I. Here's why...
1. The included Wii Sports game is extraordinary, surely the best first person sports sim on any platform. The novel control method is utterly intuitive and I've never played a computer game requiring so much physical exertion.
2. The wireless network took seconds to configure. I wish my last laptop had been so easy.
3. With the addition of games like Wii Play, Mario Party and the like, my five-year-old can compete on equal terms with the older children and with adults.
4. I still want to play Wii Sports every day.
I recommend this console unhesitatingly.

This is in response to a previous reviewer who said the Wii was the worst console, yet still gave it 2 stars. Presumably if it was the worst console you should really give it 1. Secondly, the claim that most games are for kids is just silly. Haven't you heard of the Godfather, Zelda, Medal of Honor, Red Steel etc, not to mention future games such as Metroid Prime and the new Resident Evil. The truth is that the Wii is an excellent console and is completly different from the others on the market.

I recieved a wii as part of a phone deal therefore cant complain about a price! I received it early this week and can see where all the "serious gamers" are coming from with respect to its longevity. I also own a 360 and can confirm it does not live up to graphics and general performance (die hard xbox fan)HOWEVER it is great fun as long as you have a couple of people to play with. if this console is used in the spirit it was designed for, FUN, you will not be disappointed. it will get everyone playing and is a great laugh. if you intend to sit down, zone out in front of the TV and play a game on your own then do not buy a wii!You will be very bored very quickly!
however if you want fun for all the family and friends then go for it. Yes the game range is limited at the minute but all new consoles are! even the much hyped PS3 is criticsed for its lack of titles.
In conclusion to review the wii on its own would be a mistake so my advice would be if you are a sit down player then look at the 360 or the PS3 if you are a casual gamer or want a second console then this is for you.
P.S my arms are aching from playing boxing on WII sports, took a hammering from the missus!!never going to live that down!

I never thought I would end up be able to get one in time for christmas but I did it!!! We've had it out of the box to check to see if it works and ended up playing on it all night. I ordered mine from amazon about the 21st of oct and had it delivered 2 dys later all inclusive of £181.69 fantastic!!! Those of you out there don't loose hope it is dooable and it's well worth the extra effort in the end and you don't have to pay over the odds either if you get it direct from amazon and not another seller. Put "wii stock alerts" into google and it should take you to several live update site which pop up on your desktop whe ones in stock , but make sure you check the price and country compatability 1st. Happy hunting and enjoy.
