Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wheeeeee for the Wii!!
I bought this console specifically for using with a Wii Fit. I'm not really a huge computer games fan, and the last console I owned was the original PlayStation, waaaaay back in the day. I was pleasantly surprised by how much more advanced this is than that. The interactivity between the player and the game is great, and the way the remote is sensitive to movements in every dimension makes the Sports pack included with the console much more realistic.
I'm not really a fan of the golf, but that's just personal preference, but the other games are great. Boxing really works up a sweat!
The Wii Fit is also fantastic, so have a look at that, too. Completely addictive and I've not had a day off it since buying it ten days ago. I can really feel the difference, too. My "Wii Fit age" has reduced to 23 - not bad for a 30-yr-old, but I'm determined to get it even lower!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing! Wii beats all the other consoles to boot.
This is a fantastic console at a fantastic price! Unlike other game consoles the Wii involves you utterly, by it's physical human connection. Like real sport the endorphains kick in as you compete to win the games - and it really does take gaming to a new level.
The game that comes free is fantastic and you can play: Tennis, Baseball, Boxing, Golf and Bowling, all of which require you to act just like you are playing; hit the tennis ball with backhand, Bowl the ball and bat aiming for a home run in Baseball, throw punches in Boxing and dodge the opposition's blows, swing your golf club and aim for the Eagle, and try and knock all ten pins down in Bowling!
As you can see this game is very interactive! It is heaps of fun but this package only contains ONE Wii controller and ONE nunchuk. You will need two Wii controllers to play multiplayer and two nunchuk' to box in pairs.
This package does not contain a memory card so you will need to buy one seperatley. Having said that with Wii Sports it does hold all your memory but, I don't own any other games and I will by a M.C as soon as possible.
It really is fun for all the family and my favourite, and my dad's, part of Christmas 2007 was playing Tennis. My mum and brother also play it and it is very good for his developing co-ordination.
The Wii is also very, very small. Much smaller than the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. I think this is a big bounus and it fits very nicly in between my television and CD case.
very easy set-up with built in clock and date.
You can also create a Mii - an animated version of yourself or anyone else. This is very fun as you can then play your charater in the Wii Sports games. Your Mii can pick up points with every Sports game by winning, get the most points (over 1000: but you get about 100 each game you win) and you become an unbeatable pro and win loads of medals. There is training for each of these Sports where you battle against time or hit the target and there are different levels for each of these.
Also included on the game is a fitness test, where you do Sporty tasks to complete and it will give you an age which your fitness level is and it will tell you to improve either a) balence b) stamina c) speed. And this is a great way to get exercise! Internet connection setup is easy to do as it has on screen instructions. You get 4 'Channels' with internet connection; Weather forcast, news channel (includes UK news and Football results, supurb channel!), Photo Channel and Shop Channel. On the weather forcast channel it is easy to put in your town and find out whether it's gonna be rain or shine. Photo channel is where you can put photos on your wii. Shop channel is buying games etc. Let your Miis run amok (hehhe) on your friends Wiis as they meet in the Plaza!
I cannot say anything else except for this:
FANTASTIC!
Thank you for reading

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - what a laugh...
Buying a wii has even got my wife back into playing console games - the last time was with Sonic on the megadrive....

I won't bore you rambling on about the xbox v wii graphics thing..... just to say I bought a component (Genuine Nintendo) cable and the picture looks fine to me. I cant say how they compare to an X box or PS3 because I've never seen one.

Just about to retire to bed after a good while playing tennis on Wii sports .... what a laugh.

One thing to say is the Wii looks very well put together, even the battery contacts in the wiimote look quality, the console itself feels very solid.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great, but don't have too high expectations
The Wii is a funny machine. Mock it's lack of power, ridiculously small memory and insane amount of rubbish rip-off games, but you still have to admit that the thing is insanely popular.
Very few games have pushed the wii's motion control potential, with Wii Sport's Baseball (packed in with the console) and Harry Potter (yes, you heard me) being two of the best examples of how to do the motion controls right.
That's not to say there are no good games- Mario Galaxy (beautiful family friendly platformer), Metroid Prime 3 (Atmospheric, serious sci-fi adventure), Zelda: Twilight Princess (an adventure which will eat up upwards of 50 hours of your life), Mario Kart (12 player online madness), Wii Fit (a fitness game which makes great use of some ingenious hi-tech hardware)Zack and Wiki (a devilishly challenging brain buster), Resident Evil 4 (mess-your-pants scary) and Medal of Honour Heroes 2 (which offers the best control of any console shooter). Ignore anyone who tells you that the wii has no good games, just be wary and do some research before you buy.
The Wii uses a simple interface where, once you start the system up, it presents you with a myriad of (at first) blank white squares, or "channels". You start with only the Mii channel (which lets you create your own persona's) the disk channel and the Photo Channel (lets you view and edit images and videos on your SD card). Once you connect the console to the internet, the system downloads the a global weather channel, a news channel and the Wii Shop channel. The latter is the most interesting, as it allows you to download past nintendo and sega (amongst others) titles for a small fee, and will soon allow you to download original games through "Wii Ware". You can also download a rather good internet browser.
The system itself is small and sleek, and by far the quietest of the 3 current consoles. It is so far also the most reliable, not suffering breakdowns as common as the PS3 or Xbox360.
It is worth noting that the controllers really do eat up batteries, so I recommend investing in a rechargeable pack.

If you're looking for a technical powerhouse, look away. The Wii currently has no software that supports HD, even if it is technically possible. Many of the games look like PS2 titles, with Nintendo's titles looking the best for the most part. The system is not even capable of playing DVDs. But if you want a console for the kids or for something you pull out whilst drunk with your mates, it can't be beaten.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - not recomended
buy a ps3 or xbox 360 this console blows. this console will be dead by the end of the year. the graphics are poor ps2 graphics are a 100 times better and NO DVD PLAY BACK WHAT! i played this thing for 2 mins at my friends and hated every second. i have a ps3 and also have tonnes of respect for the xbox and pc but i have non for the wii or should i say wee cos itl be going down the toilet by the end of the year and wots the deal with wee sports and fit its just making people lazy when they should be going outside with ther friends or to ther local sports or youth centre to get ther exercise not looking like a complete idiot in ther living room! the n64 was a materpiece but after that everthing went wrong so i moved to ps best thing i ever did. so to end this wee=bull, xbox= great ps3=amazing take my advice dont go ther!
