I never had wireless headphones before and thought Sennheiser is one of the best manufacturers to go for, so I bought this article. I don't know if this is normal with these types of devices but there's a constant hiss and noise in the background, a bit like when you have bad signal in car radio. Tried to move around the sending station, etc, but to no avail. Also, the internal volume level controller seems to permanently change the volume, especially with classic or heavy metal music, and the overall maximum volume is just not high enough for decent metal (I'm by no means hard of hearing :-).
Sorry, but this article is simply not worth the money. Better buy a decent portable player as another reviewer suggested.

These headphones are an excellent bit of kit, and I'm going to try my best to provide both the pro's and con's of buying these.
Of course, it goes without saying, that having no wires to hold you down does mean you can walk freely around the house, and still listen to some Bon Jovi or whatever, even when you're on the toilet.
Even better, the range is nearly as good as it says, but you're hardly likely to be 150m from the source anyhow, so this is cool.
The headphones are really comfortable, and don't make your ears sweat at all, even after a few hours of usage.
The charging stand, and the headphones themselves are very lightweight, and portable, and are powered from the mains, (the 2 rechargable batteries needed are supplied, though you can also use non-rechargables too).
And speaking of the batteries, they last for a very long time before they need to be rechagred, (though they automatically recharge when placed on the cradle), and thankfully due to a "smart" charge system, when the batteries are full, the cradle "trickle charges" them.
Unfortunaly, there are some downsides.
Firstly, there are no input sockets, meaning it has a standard phono/jack-male connector permantly attached to it, so you can't for example, patch the Component Video cables of a games console into a TV, and then the Component Audio cables into the receiver, as the ports are not there,(though this can be rectified if you buy about £10 worth of parts from eBay or Amazon to fix this), you'd think, that even back when these headphones were developed, that they would've gave these headphones some input sockets too, (especially considering Sennheiser's standing in the music industry and the club circuit).
Secondly, even though the manual says it does feature noise reduction for periods of when there is no input/low noise, called "Noise Gate", this doesn't work as well as you'd expect, and you can clearly hear the hiss and p*ss when turned above a third or so.
Aside from that, the £60 price-tag from Amazon makes these headphones very attractive, though I'd advise only getting these if you need them, and not just as a piece of technology that looks impressive.
Don't get me wrong, they ARE impressive, but it's a case of, if you don't really need a new pair of headphones, then it might not be worth buying these, at least until they come down in price a bit, (though these are still reasonably priced).
I would've rated these at 3.5, but I felt I'd give it 4 as Sennheiser's customer service is swift and efficient.

Bought these on the strength of the reviews by others on Amazon. Although the quality is good I am a little dissapointed overall. I use them with the TV surround sound system - to avoid angering the neighbours - and find they distort badly at higher volumes both with music and movie soundtracks. Further, I get an annoying hiss in certain positions due to interference even though I am only 6 foot from the transmitter. The sound quality is good at "sensible" levels and they are confortable to wear. Overall I would have liked something that could have handled the power associated with high end surround sound amplifiers which, after all, is why I wanted them in the first place.

Fantastic looking item. Right, batteries in right way. Check length of charging time, few hours to go yet so off to bed. OK all systems go, correct lights working, fully charged, connect to my new telly, 32" flat screen HD. Headphones on, very comfy, switch on & NOTHING, NOT A HISS, CRACKLE, WHISS BANG NOTHING, JUST PURE SILENCE & THE MOST MIND BLOWING QUALITY OF SOUND I HAVE HEARD, CRISP CLEAR MUSIC & THE SURROUND SOUND IS AWESOME. BEST MONEY I HAVE SPENT TO DATE. To pick fault the volume control should be where the tuning button is as when you go to adjust the volume i seem to activate the auto tune as you need to get the volume control above it. Hope this all makes sense. Headboltloose.
