Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - small but not perfectly formed
i'm being generous with the stars - let me quickly get the good things out of the way - because there aren't many

very small, looks cool, nice screen and the d pad and a/b buttons are actually decent, sounds okay

now for the negatives - shoulder buttons are a joke, the screen is smaller than some mobile phones and not great for gaming - although it is bright and sharp

a great technical exercise but even with games not using the shoulder buttons - it is awkward and it is a stocking filler and a toy for kids rather than something you can play for longer than 10 minutes

just get some decent games on your phone or pull out your DS lite - this is like a keychain toy, with all the disadvantages

this shows how the SP was the perfect gameboy model - the micro's design is inherently flawed because as you want to move your hands, you can't see the screen - but the SP doesn't have this issue.

don't get me wrong, everyone wondered what it would be like - and now we realise, it isn't too great - i'm a big nintendo fan but i just went back to the gba sp

also, it doesn't matter if this was for a £10 - i would still recommend you spend more and get a ds lite or gba sp

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Great Console
I just got a Game boy micro and I think that it is amazing value and well worth the money- the screen is brighter then the GBA and SP put together and really sharp, the buttons and easy to operate and the joystick is soft on the fingers. I gave four stars because your right thumb gets a touch sore from pressing the a button too much and although it only came out last year it is getting increasingly less common to fond good games on highstreet stores, so I only have a few games but overall the screen is amazing, I would go as far as saying on a par with the PSP but on a much smaller scale, it seems a shame the graphics on the games don't live up to it. The battery time dosen't seem to be a problem and it has survived a couple of collisions with the kitchen floor. I always did love small things and it is so easy to slip in your pocket, you don't realise how small it actually is until it arrives. I would say it is a must buy for gamers on the go, and, having said that, those glued to the couch at the same time, the text is still, amazingly, clear in such a small screen, if you can read a paper without glasses this will be no problem!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Gameboy Micro is GR8!
This is a GREAT little piece of kit. It does exactly what it says on the tin with great clear gaming on the go.

I have been playing it non-stop and i have had no problems with eye strain or muscle cramp.

The display is amazing and is soooo much better then previous GB advances and with over 700 gba games to choose from its a great console.

A few downsides though...(and only a few): The a & b buttons could have done with being a tiny bit further away from each other. The L & R buttons are a little hard to press quickly, (But now im just being picky).

Overall a great purchase.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - TOO SMALL !!!
Playing this machine for longer than 20 minutes will make your eyes sore and give you cramps in your arms & thumbs. Any games which require quick reflexes are a total waste of time with this machine. Yes, the screen is very bright and clear compared to previous versions of the Game Boy Advance. But, the small size should not be mistaken for portability. This is badly designed in terms of ergonomics. Nintendo are yet again re-hashing old technology. Even if the Nintendo games are (apparently) of high quality and have hours of playability, experiencing this on a Game Boy Micro is very uncomfortable, toturous in fact. Buy a Sony PSP instead.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - a savvy purcase
I purchased my GameBoy Advance Micro over a year ago and I maintain that it has been one of my most savvy purchases of recent years.

As other reviewers here have mentioned, I find myself using my GameBoy in a whole new way. Prior to this I had the original GBA. Because it had no backlight on the screen and because of its comparatively large size you could only play it in very particular circumstances. It is the complete opposite with the micro, I play it everywhere. It is always on me so I am never at risk of getting board waiting for stuff to happen.

I have also found that this has altered the way I play games generally. I shunned consoles some time back in favour of PC gaming. I find that rather then being locked in a separate room playing games on the PC, I now just crash out on the sofa in the living room, you can even play while watching TV. While the GBA hardware is getting long in the tooth there are still games like Advanced Wars, Fire Emblem and Zelda that have held my attention for longer then most PC games (according to the internal clock on Fire Emblem 2, I had been playing it for over 30 hours by the time I completed it).

I recently bought a Nintendo DS lite (another savvy purchase). Because you can play GBA games on it I assumed that this is what I would do when at home, to my surprise, I just prefer to play GBA games on the Micro, there is just something about it, I don't know what, that makes it more fun on the smaller console.

I think just the fact that even with the DS (and some awesome games) and with the option of gaming on the PC when I'm at home, I still find myself playing on the GBA Micro, is a glowing recommendation.
