Video Games : Xbox 360 Wireless Bridge (Required For Wireless Online/Live Play)

- Only one problem...lag!
Ok the ethernet cable is horrible and chunky but fortuantely I was lucky enough to feed it around my room to the T.V. The wireless bridge is a great idea and is quick to start up, doesn't take up alot of space, but the only problem is that there is so much lagon online games. I have already compared between using the ethernet and the wireless bridge and I have found that with the wireless bridge, my connection cut out 2 times in the space of around a week whereas the ethernet did not cut out at all (in fact I played more in the second week because it was half term xD) (I used Halo 3 to conduct the test)
Perhaps my Bridge was just faulty or just my router was mucking up a little but i'm glad there's a 30 day warranty. I think i'll just settle with the ethernet. (If you cannot get your ethernet to you xbox then you'll just have to get a wireless bridge but if you find that you're lagging out every now and again then its the bridge not the router.)

As many others have stated, overpriced for what it is but good little gadget and quite easy to set up.
Just plug in, enter some of your network settings on the 360 dashboard and you are online...

I have read varying reviews about this adaptor and was honestly reluctant to shell out 55 of my hard earned pounds sterling, however I am glad I did...not only because I got it for £49.99 on sale with free delivery (elsewhere may I add!), but it required very minimal effort to get connected to my cable router. I simply plugged the adaptor in to the usb slot on the back of the xbox360 and clipped the adaptor into place, went into the network settings from the xbox360 dashboard and it seen my network straight away. All I had to do was enter the network security key I had set up on my router and that was it! Several seconds later I was on xBox Live ready to play online. I've had the adaptor for just over a month now and its never had a fault, nor a dropped signal, its always been spot on perfect.
I did a little research on why it may be more expensive than other wireless adaptors, after all you can pick a wireless adaptor up for around £10 in some computer stores now so why the high price for this one? Apart from the ease of use, the high value brand name, it has one thing that the majority of lower priced wireless adaptors dont have, and thats the 'A' band in the a/b/g. Most usb wireless adaptors have B & G but not A. I read on some reports that the A band is more orientated for the commercial market as the A band is more reliable and stronger , and when I have seen usb wireless keys with A/B & G bands they were all between £40 and £50 so this one is only a few pounds on the upper side of that. As far as I'm concerned it does its job and it does it extremely well.
Add in to the above the fact that I can stream movies, pictures and MP3 music from my WindowsXP and play them on my TV via the xBox then the value of this adaptor pays for itself many times over. If you are looking to get the most out of your xbox as a gaming and media console then the wireless adaptor is an invaluable accessory for it. I have now burned my CDs to MP3s and no longer need CDs, also converted my DVDs to AVIs and no longer need the DVDs, I now have an external hard drive with all my media on it, and use this as my media storage drive that I have full wireless access to on my xbox. Which leaves the onboard xbox360 20Gb hard drive for me to use as a working drive to store new game demo's and saved game plays.
By the way I dont have Windows Media Centre operating system, I have Windows XP SP2 and the only issue I had in streaming media was that my firewall had to be configured to allow the data to be accessed by the xbox360. That was it! Jobs a good'un Microsoft. Any negative comments? Yes, if you dont know much about computers, networking etc then it may end in tears and lost tempers. I think if Microsoft provided a higher level of support (lets face it, we are paying them a bucket load of cash for their gear) in terms of helping those who are not PC literate (and also those who are!) then that would fill a huge gap. If they also marketed the product better and explained in laymans terms why the product is more expensive and how it could be easily set up to get the most out of it then these would fly off the shelf even at the price they are at with far less complaints. As for the product itself, I dont have any negative comments, hence it still gets 5 Stars.

Very easy to set up was done in minutes, i would not go to cable connection now. Fits next to some external fans that you can buy.
My Xbox is set in a unit about 5 metres away from router with no problems. I have had the wireless adapter for about 6 months with not a problem ever!
The only downside is the price - it is overly expensive compared to a any other usb wireless adapter.
