Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Tekken rocks
I love the tekken series i'm been playing them since tekken 3 and i have gotten all the tekken games. This game is simply brilliant the graphics are awesome the gameplay is brilliant and the new game mode with devil jin is awesome too. The new stuff is all great new characters the new fighting moves, the new background, music & modes. One thing too mention the boss battle at the end off story mode is ridicuously hard and it takes so many times to beat him it's really gets annoying, also once you complete everything u do get bored with the game it's fun just too start over again, but when you first get it it will give you loads off fun for ages. I like the games Soul Calibur and i have dead or alive 2 (which are awesome games) but this was first beat em up game i got so this is my favourite. In my opinion Tekken 3 was the ultimate tekkn game but sadly i no longer have that it's sucha shame because i loved that game. This game is wicked if you've played any tekken game before this is a must get.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just short of the perfect game...
Best Tekken in my opinion, partly because it includes the arcade versions of tekken 1, 2 and 3!

Faster pace than previous tekkens, huge rooster of characters, many more moves and great cinematics (if a little cheesy in parts), oh and awesome versus mode.

Only fault I have with the game is the uninspiring end boss Jinpachi Mishima. He just feels cheap. Once you beat him, he is no longer a challenge.

Also some people have complained about sore fingers or thumbs? Personally I don't have a problem playing for hours because I tend to move my thumb in a minimalistic fashion rather than hammering the face buttons like a baboon.

A must own for tekken and beat em up fans alike.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another Tekken but they made sure it was worth it
I have to say when I first heard of Tekken 5 coming out I did start to wonder, what really will they do to honestly make 5 a better experience than past Tekkens? After all theres been 5 Tekkens already if you remember Tekken Tag, which was an excellent game. So in Tekken 5 which I now own, I can say after playing it if you really like Tekken its a sure thing youll probably like Tekken 5. Though be prepared, it is fast, the fastest yet, you really need a few hours to get use to this,it can be frustrating losing matches you might have fought back in half way through in previous Tekkensthe speed can be very frustratingfor me sometimes I feel theres not enough time to enjoy the fight at all. but If you start to take things easy on survival mode youll be beat probably earlier than b4, its amazing that even a stage 1 or 2 character on survival will be surprisingly agressive and tuff at times, you need your wits about you in survival and it can be so unbleivabl losing when you had full energy the fight before, you can get killed too quickly, which is why im giving it 4 stars,Teken 4 had no of these frustrating things. New things in Tekken 5 are 2 brand new characters Raven (Ninjutsu) and Feng (Kung Fu) Also Asuka who has many new moves but is similar to Jun a lot, I found her very challenging to beat more than most of the characters. Also the end boss is new. Characters like Bruce the kickboxer and Anna make a return and they really have plenty of new moves. Bryan feels quite different to Bruce a lot now and command lists for every character are just full of moves and secret throws you may not know. Check out some of the mad moves King has with his 5 or 6 throw combos (they gave him more again) The command list is excellent for checking out every move, every move can be demonstrated. The best change probably is the ability to Customise* Characters now and also for the first time to get credits to buy new items/clothing/hairstyles by beating higher ranked opponents. You can buy massive swords for Feng, change the hairstyle of the characters in so many ways, buy a water bottle for Jin hanging from his waist, Gattling Gun for Jack. Samurai Helmet for Heihachi, but there isn't only 1 item per body part and every item fits the characters persona very well,Kuma even has a honey pot if you save enough credits 4 it. The items avialable are as if this mode had been in the game in previous Tekkens there so so many an item for the characters. In Tekken 6 these modes are in there because of the popularity and added value of the game, if you cant wait for Tekken 6 buy this-T5, if you own a psp and have a ps2 dont buy Tekken 5 for ps2 buy Tekken dark resurrection for psp, which is even better than Tekken 5 as it has even more characters - Dragunov and Lili and Armor King. Just my recomendation for value. The customizing of characters makes Tekken 5 worth it and thers is no lazyness of the regular characters development as they all have added new moves.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - another great tekken game.
this game is, in one word, brilliant.
it has a great story to it, many different modes to play in, so many characters to choose from and loads of extras to unlock.

the extras include a mini game entitled 'Devil Within', in which Jin Kazama hears that his mother, Jun Kazama is still alive and he goes in search of her. - i thought this was a nice touch.
you can also unlock the arcade modes of the first three tekken games!

as always in tekken, the graphics are excellent and some of the cut scenes on this game are breath-taking.
another of it's strong points is it's music. as soon as you hear the music, you are just dying to start playing!

you can easily play this games for hours. highly recommended.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Annoying
This game does have redeeming qualities, but you have to be very forgiving to spot them. I need not mention the stupidity of the Story Mode and the idiotic idea for an end boss as that has been covered in other reviews. The controls are sluggish and my fingers ache from the necessecity of bashing the buttons. As I have more than one controller and this is a requirement on all, I can only assuming its the game designers intention to make our fingers bleed. Some of the moves are too simular and because of the afformentioned problem, it ends up being a bit of a pot chance which move you perform. I am aware that this game has a focus on combos, but more so air combos or juggles. Why? Seems so pointless to have a game where the goal is to either give your opponent no chance of fighting back or having no chance yourself. Might as well just flip a coin (ok, I exaggerate my point a little, but not by much). After Tekken 4, this game has not restored my faith in the series and replaying the classic arcade games, I've started to question whether that faith was well placed in the first instance.

Tekken was good for the time but it's dated. I don't understand why people think Tekken 2 was the best, it isn't much of leap forward from the first and Tekken 3 exceeds it in quality and extra features by leaps and bounds. I don't know why Tekken 4 was so bad but it just didn't give the same excitement as 3 for me and this version is merely an improvement on 4. I think what has gone wrong here is Tekken 3 managed to get the game play of the series up to that point to its peak. The subsequent instalments have merely tried to do the same instead of move on. The series is in need of a complete overhaul or they should retire it and leave us with our happy memories.

Nevertheless, I don't wish to be too critical on the game. I like to have more than one beat 'em up in my collection and Dead or Alive is so rubbish it's not worth concidering (same goes for any of the other pretenders out there). Tekken has been exceeded by Soul Calibur, which gets criticism from the Tekken crowd for being a button masher game with no skill required (pot calling the kettle black, some might say). Tekken 5 does have amazing graphics and the arcade game is enjoyable. It also doesn't let down too much in the all important versus mode (because, let's face it, these games are their best when you play with your mates). The Devil Within game is fun enough, just like the previous Tekken Force were, enjoyable side game to play when you're fed up shouting at the story mode.

In summary, really annoying, disappointing but better than Tekken 4 and very pretty.
