Electronics : ALBA CD DAB Radio

I bought one for the lads in our warehouse on a cold industrial estate in the Lake District. The reception is fine and they are pleased with it. At the price I don't think there is much to complain about. I am going to buy one for my mum now. Word of advice - if it doesn't work send it back!

I bought this in Sainsburys December 2006. I eventually went back and bought another 3 as gifts( 4 in total...) as it was on offer for £28 ! All 4 still working well.
My first DAB, so nothing to originally compare it to, apart from previously owned radios with decent FM reception. We have since bought a Goodmans system, for 3 times the price, which has only marginally better DAB reception and sound quality.
Station selection is easy, but sometimes "drops" a station and tells you its unavailable. Sound quality is ok for a small and cheap system, we have it in the kitchen where it seems to cope well with being 300mm from a very hard working microwave !
Only niggle is the cd lid, which broke within about 2 days of use, its very slow to lift, and if you try to lift it manually, it breaks a small spring retaining clip. We now lift the cd lid manually.
The remote control is cheap and nasty, so is still in it's plastic bag- might put it on Ebay...
i'd say this was ideal for a second system on the home, or office, particularly if you can get it at sale price.

I recently bought this Alba CD DAB radio for my dad for Christmas, I have to say that the reception is totally crap indoors and after moving to different locations for a better signal we found listening in MW is far much clearer, dont waste your money on this poor product, buy something with an external antenna connection instead
