Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - By far the best game on ps3, but NOTHING COMPARED TO SAN ANDREAS
The Map is boring an repetative, you cant fly planes, you cant buy houses, and the storyline isnt at all imaginative and not worth following. Put it this way, you cant enjoy playin this game without playing the levels as you could on san andreas. It dissapointing, but as i said, still beats any game without Grand theft auto in the title, Its just they didnt reach the expectations they brought with San Andreas.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Exellent Game
What can i say, pure brilliant. Only drawback is the amount of stuff they didn't include, just so they could make it for the xbox aswell (still using old DVD) but the stuff they did include is exellent.
Buy this game.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nine out of ten parents say their 13-year-olds prefer GTA
I finally completed Niko's story after an emotional and unforgettable journey over the best part of May 2008. Now I'm tired and want to go to bed (it's 10pm). You could pick the game apart and concentrate on its many flaws, you can be disappointed about the odd graphical shortcoming here and there. Yes, the game is often morally redundant and the level of humour and dialogue is aimed at the schoolboys who aren't supposed to be playing the game. True, the characters are two dimensional stereotypes and the so-called choices you make concerning them in the game actually have little impact. The lack of checkpoints in missions may lead to frustration, and earning all the money from them and not actually having all that much to spend it all on seems rather pointless. It's not the revolution for the franchise that some expected and is lacking in the scope of the previous entry, GTA San Andreas. But GTA IV overcomes all this to offer one of the best playing experiences of this generation and (arguably) the best GTA to date. To play it is to live it. If everyone hadn't already bought it there might even be a point to this review.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great, but more grown up.
I have to say I do love this game. I've been playing it pretty much non stop for weeks and I'm still not tired of it. The visuals are truly stunning and you can't fault the co-op at all. Free roaming with your friends is an awesome experience.

There have been mixed reviews on the story line and I can see both sides of the argument. True it's not as entertaining as San Andreas, but I don't think this is a bad thing. The story line for SA was, to be honest, completely ridiculous. Some of the missions were so unbelieveable it was; well unbelievable. However despite the ludicrous nature of these missions, they were definately fun.

This has been lost in GTA4 as the makers, Rockstar Games, seem to have grown up a bit. The story is darker and more realistic. This isn't to say it's no longer fun, because it definately is, but I can see why some people think SA was better on that front.

Another controversial side is the driving. People complain it's like driving on ice. Although I don't agree with that I can see where they are coming from, as it is definately more difficult and I'll admit to begin with I struggled. However you get used to it fairly quickly and it becomes much more fun. The cars handle like real cars, giving the game a real edge. I think one of the most entertaining things I've seen is smashing a car into a tree and watching the car bend around it, shattering the windows, and possibly sending you flying through the windshield. It's these small things that make the game so much better than the old ones.

But despite the skill now required to be able to drive i think this makes the game better. The cars are so realistic you'd think it was a driving simulator with a crime story line attached. The driving alone makes it worth buying.

Not to mention the multiplayer. Although there seems to be problems for some people trying to connect on slower connections, as with all games released on PS3, this is being resolved and it's worth the wait. There are a number of modes to be played, including my personal favourite cops and crooks, all of which are very entertaining and great fun. And of course there is the online freeroaming option, which I have been playing for weeks and am still not tired of. For some reason there is something deeply satifying about blowing your friends 20 feet into the air with an RPG.

So overall a good game. It's a bit darker and more grown up this time around which may disappoint some fans, but definately one of the best games on the PS3 for now atleast. The multipayer is great, if you can make it work and the driving in definately fun once you get used to it. Rockstar have done it again. Let's just hope it doesn't take 4 years for the next one.

Note: You may be interested to know there are multiple endings. Choose wisely!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - GTA, but not quite as we know it
It's good fun. But it lacks the 'rewards' that featured in all the other GTA games. And to be honest, this really sucks.

For example, imagine my 'suprise' after completing the vigilante missions - in that all I got was a message on the screen saying 'You are now a vigilante' lolol. Truly poor Rockstar.

And completing the 'finding cars' missions, what do i get? A Super GT, an Infernus? Nah, I get a message saying "you can now take cars for money anytime". thanks for almost nothing.

Anything for finding the 200 hidden items? Nope

Anything for 100% at all? Oh a key to the city. Gee er thanks.

Hey you get a mobile phone, we could use this a lot couldn't we. There's a website in the game with phone numbers against cars, erm it doesn't do anything. Oh hang on, ringing a number to get a car is considered CHEATING. er why didn't they incorporate this into the game instead?

So what rewards *do* we get? Well there's your friends special abilities, and half of these either don't work or are only available at select times. Useless.

The missions mostly inolve hide & shoot, yes most of the missions. Hardly any see you doing anything in a vehicle, other than to drive to location. Very repetetive, have they forgotten the name of this game?

There's a lot in this game to 'watch' rather than to get involved with, stuff the missions the most fun you'll get from this game is what you get up to on the side.

I've still given it 4 stars, I was almost giving it 3 but to be fair it is better than any other game I've played on the ps3. It's just not *quite* GTA standards. Let's hope the next release brings back the beloved format, it would be nice to at least play to the end for a reason.
