Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - DS DoeS the World
Without a doubt the Nintendo DS is the most innovative handheld console ever to be released to the world, the technology works superbly well and developers and gamers alike are gladfully relishing the experience of the DS.

If you've never considered the DS before then you really are missing out on the fun! The variety of games available to you is a fantastic asset to the DS, theres seems to be a little bit for everyones tastes. You can easily play with any DS owner using Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection to connect wirelessly together; some games even give you the opportunity to play with anyone around the world by connecting to your wireless network, a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, or any Nintendo Hotspot across the country.

The DS comes equipped with some great little features; of course theres that touch screen to add a new dimension to your portable games, but you also get a built-in microphone along the base of the console - which allows you to interact with play in some games -- chatting with your friends in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, blowing out candles in WarioWare Touched!, to shouting an objection in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. One of the best (and my favourite) features is the DS Download Play facility; which allows players to play with others who don't have a copy of the game themself, sometimes hosting upto 7 or 8 players in one game from a single card! The games or levels available vary depending on whether others have a copy though - generally becoming more limited.

The DS Lite has a number of different back-lit screen settings; which allow you to save battery life when in brighter environments, to being able to play even in the darkest of places. The console has a GBA cartridge bay so you can still play your old Game Boy Advance games on one of the screens. Included is a rechargeable battery and AC charger, stylus (and spare), manual etc. Each console also comes with built-in software to manage your own profile and DS settings (eg. colour schemes) including the Pictochat utility that enables you to send and receive messages to those within range.

Unfortunately if you've owned an original DS version then you'll immediately notice the difference in the sound quality between the two consoles has deteriorated. This is, however, the only down-side to the DS Lite. Don't let this put you off, the design of the DS Lite is far superior ergonomically and in appearance, the stylus is also much easier to handle.

At the end of the day you're looking at the most successful handheld console ever, it's very easy to pick up and just play - whenever, wherever -- from a host of weird and wonderful games; for everyone of ALL ages. The graphics may not be your average jaw-dropping enriched detailed realism, but the DS gives you so much more - good old simple fun. Experience what the DS has to offer, believe me, its versatile & unique play has made a global impact on fans and developers all around world, turning a new page in gaming history - gaming may never be the same again.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Box of tricks
I've only had this a few weeks and I've only got one game, but I'm in love with it already. I'm in my 50s and this is my first games console - yes, this is the one I was waiting for! Its main attractions are the size - light and truly pocket-sized - easy-to-use controls, bright screen and range of games. The battery life is good too, and the unit's case seems fairly robust. A real winner.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - DS to DS Lite, Did someone at Nintendo have a brain wave!?!
I've had the original DS for some time now and haven't took much notice in the ds lite

Then there was I day where I thought I should think about getting one, but I was still at an undecided stage wether I should get a lite or not. But out of the blue, my mate rang me up and told me he had a ds lite, i was like ok that's cool, and went to his house with my original ds. He was playing on it when I arrived.

I looked at the screens and was blinded by the sheer brightness of the screens and yet this was under pure sunlight!

It was about half a centimetre smaller. Slightly thinner and looked sleek and glossy. I noticed a few differences when he handed me his ds lite, and I experienced it from there.

The inside lower area (around the buttons on the bottom half of the ds) was very grippy which you get used to. The sound was quieter even on full volume. The hinge is a lot smoother. The buttons are softer and more comfortable. It has a completely new charging socket. Thicker and better stylus and the brightest screens you will ever see (Battery last same as normal ds on brightest setting) also quicker charging times.

You will be very happy if you plan to buy a DS lite even if you are not a original ds owner, i know im buying mine asap. definate 9/10

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A breakthrough in portable gaming
The Nintendo DS Lite is a huge leap forward for the portable games industry.

The games on the DS are so far ahead of the competition it is amazing to think anyone would want to own any other handheld. Games such as Wario ware, Nintendogs & Trauma centre to name a few all use the new control systems that the stylus and microphone offer. What other machine allows you to become a world class surgeon with such a fitting control method?

There are lots of reasons to own a DS and None not to!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nintendo DS Lite (White)
I have never owned any kind of gaming machine before. My brother had a NES when we were kids, but he never let me use it anyway, and when he was old enough to buy a car he put away such 'childish' things and I gave it no more thought.

However, when I saw the adverts for this new Nintendo DS Lite I knew instantly that I had to have it. For £100 you do get a very good looking piece of equipment, and the set-up is really easy. It feels good to hold in my hand, and it also appeals to people of all ages, so even at the ripe old age of 24 I don't feel silly playing on it in public places. My boyfriend is also obsessed with it, and plays on it all the time.

The games are quite expensive, the first game I bought was ZooKeeper, but I found that I completed it really fast so I have moved on to games that hold my attention for longer, such as Animal Crossing, which is excellent. I also want to try Phoenix Wright, as that looks right up my street.

All in all, I'd say the DS Lite is an excellent way to waste a couple of hours, and it's sleek white design is truly gorgeous too.
