I only just got my DS Lite 2 weeks ago, so I only own 1 DS Lite game but it's safe to say that DS Lite play Gameboy Advance (SP) games as well as DS Lite games.
So far I think the machine is 50/50 Nintendo have never really been the one to have the best games that is why I have mixed feelings but so far the Machine is great.
With DS Lite you have a Backlite which can make the game look dimmer or brighter whichever you want, it has a Volume controle and supports a slot for a Headset.
It comes with a Stylus which lets you navigate around DS Lite games and it has a Mic part where you can shout in commands for your characters to follow, now I never owned an original DS so I cannot tell you if it is better or worse than the original DS, but I can say that it's not a bad Machine.
Again I think Nintendo only released this machine for Gaming ONLY purposes as I cannot find a section where I can insert Movies or anything.

New to handheld gaming, I bought a DS earlier this year. It is fun, But then I saw a DS lite and I bought it because it is so much easier to see the screen pictures with the enhanced lighting - now life is much more fun, and the DS lite is worth every penny it costs.

I am 11 yrs old and have a pink nintendo DS. I haven't got Nintendogs anymore so my best games are Animal Crossing and Sims 2. But recently, I've been looking at the New Nintendo DS Lite, which seems a fantastic console, and wondering whether to trade my Nintendo DS in and with some money saved up, buy the Nintendo DS Lite. This would cost a lot of my money (even if buying off amazon which is always cheapest!) and is a big decision to me. Has anyone got anything to say about the better parts and (if you can think of any) bad parts, please say!!! Even if the bad things are minor I'd still like to know as this might balance out my decision. There are probably lots of others like me who are wondering what it would be like to change consoles so any points would be helpful to everyone. Please help me choose!
Rating: - Simplistic, Original Just Great Fun...
The good: The Nintendo DS Lite is slimmer and much sleeker that the original DS. The device employs innovative dual-screen and microphone-enabled gameplay as well as Wi-Fi multiplayer capabilities, allowing for a growing list of original and fun games that you can't play on any other system. In addition, the system is backward-compatible with almost every GBA title. All these additions come without increasing the price or decreasing the features of the original DS. Great Stuff =)
The bad: Playing online games via Wi-Fi can be a hassle. The darker models are just as susceptible to scratches and smudges as the Sony PSP and the iPod, and its multimedia potential remains exclusive to Japan. (at the moment)
The bottom line: With a slick new design, brighter screens, and a growing library of fun and innovative games, the Nintendo DS Lite is an impressive improvement over the original DS. and also at a good price.. well worth the money..
reason i have not awarded the superb ds lite 5 stars is simple, no machine is without it's fault's and as i have rather large hand's controling using the d-pad can sometimes be a awkward, but it's not a major problem and doesnt really effect my gaming .. i highly recommend the ds to parents or b.fs looking to buy his or her children or partner something truly orginal and fun. they will love you all the more for it =)i bought this for the g.f and she hasnt stopped playing it which has given me hours and hours of peace and quite so turned out to be the best purchase i have ever made lol

Firstly this machine feels like it should cost twice as much as it does - Nintendo have really pushed the boat out with two gorgeous backlight screens and stereo speakers that give the games justice. Playing any DS game on it is a pleasure and since it's so light only the daintiest will have problems playing games such as Metroid Hunters which need one hand free for the stylus.
Secondly the DS enjoys some of the most innovative titles out there. I say titles as not all can be called games - I'm talking about Brain Training (proven to improve memory and logic), Electroplankton (a unique 'musical instrument') and Animal Crossing (community based trading) which have bags of replayability and charm!
My only niggle is that if you plan to play GBA games you will find that the cart will stick out of the bottom rather awkwardly which ruins the sleek lines of the unit - luckily the DS has so many good games it's unlikely you'll want to play old GBA games anyway!
To sum up: If you want a classy handheld console with oodles of great games for a small price then buy a DS Lite today - You'll thank yourself for it!
