- Mortal Kombat ArmageddonMortal Kombat 1 was the first game I ever played when I was 6 so I grew up with it (im 18 now) Motal kombat Trilogy was by far in my opinion the best Mortal Kombat game ever made followed closely by the rest. The idea of having all the characters was great they all had different moves and fatalities and the 1 button fatality cheat just made the game more enjoyable. So here we are now with Mortal Kombat Armageddon. This kind of reminds me of a re vamp of MKT but a very poor one at that all the characters are here with almost the same moves and what have they done to motaro? hes like a really weak minotaur now, in MKT motaro and the other sub boss characters were really hard to beat and were really powerful to play as , now it seems they have just turned them into weak oven glove wearing sissies, and the fatlaities :( how I miss the old fatalities I was hoping for somethng really cool with this one when they said create a fatality but its a really crappy mecahnic because all the fatalities are the same for everyone and building them up was a pain in the arse. And the create a figther mode is nothing special it's actually pretty lame. So theres 60 people in this game from all previous mortal komabat games including 2 new ones Taven and Daegon who are the main people of the Konquest mode (which has really improved into a shoalin monks kind of game but not as good). Some of the characters look like they were just thrown in at the last minute such as motaro, Cameleon, Onaga and Kintaro The endings on this game really suck they arent even endings really just text with your figther doing some moves in the background, and Blaze is far too easy to beat for an end boss. Not like Shoa Kahn in MKT who took ages to beat as an ordinary fighter e.g Lui Kang. The new mario kart rip off is fun to play though and a good addition to the series they should have added test your might/sight considering his is a finale in the MK series on current consoles. And the battles can be good with friends and online but other than that this is a really bog standard game that plays exactly like Mortal kombt Deception, The best full 3D MK game (not including MK4) is MKDA so I would Recommend Deadly Alliance or Deception because this one really doesnt have a high fun factor its almost like a fan made game for noobs. Im just glad the controls are good and the gameplay the graphics are almost the same as the other 2 mortal kombat games on ps2 so nothing special. Thanks for reading. Rating: - Not running out of ideas, just adding ones that don't workI bought this game simply because I'd bought Mortal Kombat Deception and found it an excellent beat-em-up - violent, engaging, challenging and above all frustrating - it was nigh on perfect. After buying Armageddon the first thing I noticed was that with only 4 characters needing to be unlocked, Ed Boon and co hadn't left me alot to do. However, in setting about doing it, I was pleasantly surprised at the Konquest Mode (which had been the weakest element of Deception). The amount of improvement from Deception's Konquest and this is vast. New features include Motor Kombat, Kreate a Fighter and Kreate a Fatality. Motor Kombat is an itially interesting, if unoriginal, addition. At first it works, racing against your mates or the CPU to finish first. However, after a while if you're playing on your own, it gets very old, very quickly with 5-6 tracks and only 8 of the 60+ characters available for selection. Perhaps then the Kreate a Fatality feature will improve proceedings. Um....no. Quite simply the number of combos is limited, and the actual fatal moves are rather tame and do not vary between fighters. Plus with no Hara-Kiri option available, after a while you've seen it all. With 60+ characters (as well as your created ones), if each had 2 fatalities and 1 Hara-Kiri, then that's over 180 fight enders at your disposal. The game's ace in the hole is the Kreate a Fighter mode which, although limited as to the moves etc, gives you a wide range of looks to upset the apple cart with a totally unique Kombatant. There is a problem with this however, in that you can only save 1 fighter per profile, which is a real pain. Despite its flaws, the overall gameplay of MK:A is just as good as ever, with the same 3D game environment as Deception and Deadly Alliance. A good effort, but could have been better. Rating: - The seventh entry and the best one yetThe seventh entry in the ongoing fighting series of Mortal Kombat is a full-blown armageddon, bringing together every bloodletting character in Mortal Kombat history as well as adding new characters eager for violence. This amazing game also featured are Create-A-Fighter mode, Create-A-Fatality mode, and a brand new Konquest mode and not to forget the mortal kart. A MUST BUY!!!!! Rating: - Mortal Kombat ArmageddonThe last Mortal Kombat game i played was decepiton, i was so disappointed with i did't play any other Mortal Kombat games. That was till i got Mortal Kombat Armageddon for x-mas. Everything about this games blew me away, how many characters in it(around 60), the special movies and other bits in the kript, creating a fighter and lots more. The konquest in bril. All in all this is a must buy even if ur not a Mortal Kombat fan. Rating: - The bloodiest yet!Wow, I knew this game was an 18+ before I got it - as all the other classic MKs have been - but this one takes the blood & guts to new levels! I thought 'Predator' was the goriest game I'd ever played on a PS2...but hey, MK fans wouldn't have it any other way. I've been off the series since the classic MK Trilogy for the old PS (which I still rate as one of my top games ever) but this really brought me back into the franchise with a bump! As previously noted, there are a lot of elements from Soul Calibur III and while overall the game isn't quite as polished or beautiful to look at as that game, the Kreate a Character mode is better, allowing you to fine tune aspects of the characters physical appearance. There are over 250 unlockable bonus treats in the 'Krypt', including the now-ubiquitous trailers, artwork, photos of game developers, etc. Being able to play one of 60 odd characters, or one of your own, is just a massive kick in itself - the main reason why I loved Trilogy so much. Most of the arenas can be demolished or interacted with in all sorts of cool ways, not just in executing stage fatalities either; characters can be knocked down stairs, through air vents etc., to open up a whole new area and continue the carnage. The old basic Kombat/Versus format is of course still present, with the option of online play which is where I guess the Kreate mode really comes in to its own. I don't have ADSL so can't judge this feature, but the potential is awesome for those who have such technology. Visually, it's a real treat on the eye. Like I said, not as exquisitely gorgeous to look at as 'Soulcalibur', but then MK was never about beauty - but about blood & guts! And there's plenty. Not just in the old 'throw the ketchup up the wall' style either. Characters can now be smashed into pulp, ripped in half (vertically and horizontally), literally torn limb from limb. I haven't yet played 'Jaws Unleashed' yet, but this could well be the goriest game ever produced for the PS2. The 'Kreate a fatality' idea seems a bit hard to grasp at first - meaning each time you 'Fatalize' an oppononent, you create only PART of a sequence which will eventually become a fatality. Or maybe I'm not doing it right - in any case it's not immediately obvious. As a lover of retro chic I'll always have a soft spot for the digitized characters and their original costumes and personalities, but most gamers will find the updates to classic heroes and villains pretty cool as well. The original did come out in the early 90s after all, and gone are some of the more dodgy haircuts and crimes against dress sense... Liu Kang seems to have turned into Kratos from 'God of War', and there are a few evident borrowings from that godly game in the Konquest mode; a run-around-collecting-goodies-while-battling-endless-baddies story-based mode. What starts off looking quite simplistic quickly develops into quite an engrossing adventure, and it certainly beats Soulcalibur's 'Chronicle' mode for long-term playability. Also worth a serious mention is the 'Motor Kombat' feature, where caricature fighters race cartoon cars around lethal racecourses. The old MK writers' sense of fun has not left them - again, what seems daft at first and a bit of a dodgy bolt-on to the main game soon becomes maddeningly competitive and engrossing as you desperately try to come first in a race that makes 'Death Race 2000' look like 'Cannonball Run' ! I found myself playing through this repeatedly once I'd started to get the hang of it - and I hate car racing games! Somehow, there's something satisfying about watching that guy in front of you suddenly get pulped into jelly by a descending steam hammer, allowing you to snatch the lead.... All in all, it's pretty damn awesome. MK for the new century, and all that. But seriously, don't let the young kids near this one. That rating's there for a very good reason! |
