Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Forget the DRM
This game is quite shallow. You know the real reason they put DRM on this game? To distract from the fact there is almost nothing to it. Woah, a new low for EA. Maybe EA saw the dollar signs and thought "let's release it now!"

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Just dont
My boyfriend got this game off the EA site when it first came out. the first problem he has is that his graphics card didnt run properly with the game, ok i admit not the fault of EA but then heres where the problems started. As we didnt have a disk of the game, there was no way to install it on my computer for him to play. the site offered no help, and being students we aint gonna waste our phone bill on phoning up EA wo are useless. so we copied all the files over to my comp. worked fine!

First level of the game is actually really fun and probably the best bit, which like other people say is quite worrying. Its very simple but probably the most realistic and challanging bit :S. once you have legs its up onto land where u kill, make friends and collect parts. the problem i found here is that it all happens too quickly and you often dont have time to do things how you want. your nest keeps moving each time your "brain grows" so you have to follow them and suddenly everything is bigger and better than you. I found it easier to just kill everything than make friends because if u want your creature looking good then all your socialising skills are never high enough. I also found that all my creatures ended up looking the same, as all the good body parts left your creature looking like some sort of weird dragon thing. may just be me! Once you have repeadedly killed or befriended stuff you get one last chance to change your beast, and in this you can totally change it and this will not affect later gameplay at all, which kinda destroys the whole point of this level of the game.
next stage is pointless, its like age of empires for a 2 year old, you kill or befriend 5villages zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. no skill needed, waste of time, buy age of empires!

next stage is enjoyable if you like making buildings but these are really limited so rather dull for me. also takes a long time and again is totally pointless, as it doesnt affect the workings of the building at all.

Once i was in space i got bored. Its sooooooooo repetative, just going back and forth between planets. this would have been so much better if, instead of being a single ship, you controlled the empire and sent out ships. yes here the graphics are cool and space is HUGE!!! but it gets really boring just clicking on planets, zooming in, talking and flying off. Quite early on everyone seems to hate you and building an alliance only gets you 1 friend ship (excuse the pun) and this wont defend you against anything.

after playing for a bit my bf went home for the weekend but couldnt put the game onto his home pc. sux for him because i kinda need my comp so he cant play it when he wants. EA have ruined what chance this game may have had. if you download it you get it on one pc. buy the cd and u only get 3 upgrades of your system. Anyone who buys this has just effectivly been robbed, may as well buy a car that falls apart each time u put petrol in. Dont stand for it, dont buy this game. if you want a sim game buy the sims, if you want to control an empire buy age of empires. if you want to make creatures then just buy the creature creater for £5, much more fun.

DONT BUY THIS GAME!!!!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Like the Sims? Stick to it!
I've spent a number of hours reviewing games, primailry for their AI, so here's what I can say about SPORE;

One, AI useage is, frankly, rubbish, very simple techniques apart from the Creature creation stage, can it path-find? Not easily. Can it work by itself building up a civilation? Nope.

Frankly, you dont need me to rant about the copy protection, but here;s a small fact you should know; there IS a little program that's installed to protect the game, trouble is it's installed directly over the main part of Windows, it's suppose to stop people copying the game, but i've found not only does it create a massive hole in your operation system (you might as well lower any protection you have and stick a virtual sign saying 'Hackers, key-loggers welcome!') it can, at the flick of a switch, control your computer entirely, it can lock you out (EA, I'm sure, dosent intend that, but it's a lovely tool for anyone who wants to attack your machine and steal your data)

To be frank, get this game if, and only if, you;

want attacks on your machine,

have a spare, disposable computer handy.

I can tell you here and now your putting your machine at risk, as well as causing premature hair loss, by installing this 'product'.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Poor show EA
The reason im rating this game is again due to this pesky DRM problem. Why EA ? It has delayed pirates but from what i've heard if you simply google spore crack you will find that pirates have already got around this problem with ease. Give us a patch that takes away the limiter on accounts.

Last point: Do NOT buy this game. It gives you around 4 hours of entertainment then you're bored. You are also supporting EA to use DRM as a solution to piracy which is not a good idea as I actually would like to be able to reinstall games after clearing my HDD up.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Spore
Spore (Mac/PC DVD) I am writing this review to warn people who might buy this game.I was not bothered about the DRM all I just wanted was to play the damm game.Well all went well with the installation but when I tried to play the game my whole computer just froze solid!! My spec is quite high on my comp and way exceeds the min spec for this game.I tried the disc version,I tried the download version with the same result computer lock up!!I got in contact with the help line at EA but they gave up in the last email they sent me they said they had an issue with the intel duo core processor and the game was really written for windows xp????The point is this you might be able to play this game no probs at all but there again you might have the same problem I had and I am down nearly £40 on the two versions.I run on windows vista,4 gig memory,NVIDIA GeForce 9600gt,500 gig hard drive.You choose to buy or not to buy? Buyer Beware!! wish I could have given no stars :(
