Video Games : Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360)

Rating: - A good game
i dont know what all the people who say the driving is rubbish are playing but from my experience after playing on it for about 5 mins i got used to the driving (being used to playing PGR 4) so if anything i would say the driving is the most realistic GTA has ever offered.

i agree that there are a lot of cutscenes, however i quite like that, it helps to tell the story and bring the characters alive.

what i like about this game (and all the other GTAs i've played) is that i can start and stop when i like, i never really get bored of it, just think of something else to do. to me that is what makes a good game, one that allows you to have fun not be obsessing about completing it.

Rating: - great to start with
I have had this since release and, having played all the gta's before this, was practically wetting myself with excitement about its release. After playing it for probably about 20ish hours i have to say i am a little disappointed. Its far more graphically detailed than previous versions, which makes it visually stunning. City wise, its huge, far more complex than even San Andreas. Only because all the space is used for city, hardly any for green areas like parks or woodland, hills/mountains etc (like in San Andreas). Unfortunately this is probably only the good part. It lacks much of the previous fun content such as Radio Controlled missions. Base jumping/parachuting is gone. No vehicle modding (although i believe this was in saints row). No planes, thought this was expected. The lock on aim is frustrating. Driving handling is more realistic, making fast cornering, handbraking and general joy riding difficult. Rockstar have said they wanted to make the game more realistic, but the changes they have made have seriously 'down graded' the game. After 20 hoirs of play im bored. Online is a joke, the lagging/hosting options are a problem. Sorry rockstar, i was expecting more. still after taking over 200 million pounds on day 1 of release i doubt they will mind.

Rating: - The Best Game Ever
I think this is the best game ever. I have played Bioshock, Halo's, Gears Of War, Metal Gear Solid's, Unreal Tournament's, Call Of Duty's and this game brings a feeling that no other has. That, GTA isn't just a game. Is a virtual life, that we're all waiting for. Also, i have played both versions because i have both PS3 and 360 and for those with the two consoles that down't know what version to buy, go for the 360 version. The visuals are almost the same, except the framerate is better on 360.
More reasons? You have vibration on the pad, you have achievements and you'll have have exclusive extra content in Autumn.

Rating: - Best Game Available.
This is, without doubt the best game available on the 360.

Initially, I found the driving, as previously described, a little difficult. But you soon get the hang of it.
You actually have to be able to handle the cars now ¡V and they all handle very differently. If you prang a car, its handling changes ¡V as would a real car. They don¡¦t always blow up either. Smash them enough and they just stop working. This all adds to you having to handle the cars a lot differently than before. It¡¦s different to previous GTA releases ¡V and this is a good thing.

The map is just immense. I¡¦ve put in a lot of gaming hours so far, and I haven¡¦t seen most of the areas through the missions. The details on each building is just amazing. Graphically, the game is excellent. If you feel it¡¦s too dark in part (I did) then adjust the settings in the game. Easy done.

It¡¦s all the little touches that make this game what it is too.
« You can whistle a cab and they stop.
« You can call the police.
« When going in reverse in a car, Niko actually puts his right arm on the passenger seat and looks out the back window.
I could go on.

All in all, this is a massive improvement on previous GTA releases. The game has now evolved to next generation.

Rating: - Not that good....
OK the New GTA is here and it's already got a steaming fan-base and loads of screaming babys backing it up.

im my opinion this is not as good as vice city and here's why i think that way

-the driving (yeah, i KNOW it's more realistic, im sick of seeing people reply with this, like they are the only people who know it's realistic and they feel the need to start every reply with the words "it's more realistic...."

-the shooting (it's bland and is alot worse than vice citys and SA

-the storyline (if you can call it that) anyone who thinks the GTA storylines are well thought out clearly has never played any other GTA games, they are all basicly the same thing....get revenge on him/her, get to the 'top'....oh and the "iv betrayed you!" aspect of this game is now so common that nearly every character i see i just go "plainly evil..."

-the freedom (again it shoved so much into this game that it ruined it all and heres the list why:

*bowling= broken and dull
*pool= broken
*arcade games= just some stupid add on that probs took 10 mins to design and shove in
*that phone= yeah i LOVE being phoned every 2 min's to be asked to go see a show or get drunk

-the phone= just the most annoying thing ever thought up! nothing better than seeing that little phone pop up on screen every 2 mins and asked "wanna go see a show?"

-the online (it dosent work very well online, and is mainly played by 8 yearolds)

oh and as another reviewer said "if this game was not called GTA then it wouldent have nearly as many people defending it's flaws"
