- Mario once has once again proven that he is the master of platform gaming. Astonishing.....
Mario has never ceased to amaze me over the years, First with the original Super mario bros on the NES, all the way to the absolutely stunning Super mario 64 on the N64. This new game shows to me that Mario despite being over 20 years old now has still got what it takes to be trully fantastic.
In this game you are now in the massive realms of space looking for you guessed it princess peach kidnapped by bowser. There are a huge variety of planets to explore with 120 stars to find and thankfully that will not be an easy task. Some classic moves return like the triple jump and wall jump return also along with classic fire mario ability not seen for years. This game is a true masterpiece and there are moments of genius round every corner.
The graphics are absolutely mind bendingly good, full of colourful flair you thought the wii wasnt capable of, it just goes to show you dont need a monstrous graphics chip to look and play brilliantly.
In a nutshell: If you own a wii, it would be criminal not to own this. This is now where the wii starts to earn its keep in this generation of consoles. You can finally forget the dismal efforts of past, and play this truely fantastic effort from Nintendo.

Right I don't really like the Mario platform games and have been firmly in the Sonic arena for the past half of my life. Howevre I must say this game is great. The graphics are fu and the sound excellent - just a shame it wasn't all voice acted.
The controls work well - finally wii games are coming of age in that arena.
Also praise for the level set up - nicely broken up to allow brief periods - especially usefl when you have a new cat dangling from the wrist strap.
So if you like any platform game you'll love this. Buy it.

Playing Super Mario Galaxy for the first time is a little disorientating. Each level in Galaxy takes place on planets and other assorted structures free floating in space, with Mario sticking to the surfaces as he jumps between them. Often able to run all the way around objects in three dimensions the perspective is continually changing, often finding the user controlling a character running upside down or sideways. Sounds confusing? It is - but only at first. Amazingly, knowing your ups from your downs is quite natural with the camera very, very rarely making it hard to see where you're going. The controls are very easy to get to grips with the various gameplay features eased in and explained using advice from incidental characters.
The plot follows Mario on an intergalactic mission to rescue Princess Peach from the evil Bowser. Each level is accessed from a central observatory and stars collected from completing each unlock more levels. This does not require you to collect every star to finish the game, however each level or challenge is so unique and fun that you'll be inclined to complete most or all of them. Old levels can be revisited, and comets that visit the old levels add new objectives and challenges further adding to replay value. Like any Mario gamer, there are loads of secrets and you'll also get many hours play searching for these.
Super Mario Galaxy is an amazing achievement. Unlike many Wii titles, the innovation is in the game design rather than the motion sensitive controls which play a lesser role in this case. It sometimes feels a world away from the vintage Mario games (especially the 2D titles) but sometimes you'll be playing a level, some classic Mario music will start up and you'll feel just like you're playing Super Mario Bros 3 in full, magical 3D.
The game is large, and completing every part of the game (rather than the minimum required to get to the end) presents a fair challenge. One of the best looking titles on the Wii, with an excellent orchestral score and a two player cooperative mode, this is an essential addition to anyone's collection.
Rating: - A real head turner...trust me on that, you will be turning it.
Its rare these days that a game comes in without any form of new inspiration from other titles, normally everything is some what of a copy cat of other mediums, but this game however changes everything.
nintendo have pumped so much imagination and stlye into this and it is by far absolutely remarkable, if you ever thought that there wont be anything out there that will inspire new ways of gameplay, you will be very mistaken unless you get this now. its a whole new style of game packed with fun levels, exquisite use of the controls and its all round a great adventure with something new all the time. i dont just think this is a fantastic game but i think it will revolutionise new ideas into gaming as a whole, not to be missed!

I got this game today and it is really good. I Thought id come and drop a review incase people are pondering.
It is a very fun game and you get easily hooked! Discovering new things on it is also very good.
