I bought this after reading the reviews for it.
When I got it I was really pleased for the first day as it was already fully charged.
Second day, I found that I was having to wind it every 20 minutes not every 2 hours as some of the other reviews stated and the sound quality for some reason worsened.
It was just highly disappointing and I thought that buying a Sony would mean I received a quality item - how wrong I was.
The machine now sits in my work truck and is never used and if this is the best wind up technology has to offer I will continue to use a battery operated radio.

Love this radio. Admittedly, it's basic but it does everything well. Agreed the speaker volume is not very loud, but as the other review commented, it's absolutely fine for personal use. Had mine a little while and have never put in batteries, the crank works just peachy and I get at least 30-45 mins on FM and 20 mins with the light, all for just a minute's kranking. Still get a good feeling knowing that using it sans-batteries is absolutely carbon neutral. Sounds silly but I shudder to think how many batteries I've used and binned on previous small radios over the years.

First of all, this radio is teeny - (measures 12cm x 8cm) - I was expecting it to be bigger. It packs a punch though - good, loud sound and easy, strong tuning means I can wander round the house and listen to Five Live's Olympic coverage while I do the housework - great! The FM reception seems excellent, as good as the old (v expensive) Roberts I used to have in the kitchen. They call it an 'Emergency Radio' on the box - great, it can become part of my Zombie Plan. No complaints here. And I LOVE the colour.

It does what it says.Reception and sound good and so easy to use.Torch is adequate in dark conditions so look upon this aspect as a bonus. You should recoup your money on the batteries you won't have to buy.

With an end cost of nearly thirty pounds you may be put off buying this item. However what you get for that money is a super little radio that looks great and is well made.
The orange may be an acquired taste, but the radio is well made with chunky easy to use buttons. As well as the tactile and easy to use controls the winding handle is also sturdy and robust making charging the radio quick and easy. The radio also has a useful soft light and a bright flashlight; however they are mainly for indoor use and are probably not suitable for lighting your way at night.
The product description states that a 60 second wind up gives 60 minutes playback, however I have found the radio last for hours and hardly needs recharging afterwards. If you are using the soft light or flash light, this may affect how long each charge lasts for. The radio also sounds great, with crisp clear sound that for a small radio is pretty loud and easy to hear from a distance or in other rooms.
Overall this is a stunning bit of kit, small, light, easy to use and looks great, however it is shame Amazon doesn't do the black and silver version. The sound quality is fantastic and can be heard easily when not in the same room. A definite must buy that will save you a fortune in batteries.
