Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A nice little number
I was looking for a CD/radio to go in my (small) study. Having looked at the reviews, I plumped for the Pure Chronos - and I haven't been disappointed. It's a nice looking and compact machine. As a DAB virgin, I hadn't been looking forward to getting that all set up. Fortunately set up was a breeze and the DAB reception is just fine. The overall sound is good but not fantastic - I guess that some compromises have been made to keep the size down - but it's perfectly OK for use in a small room. In common with other reviewers, I don't like the remote control - a good remote should work first time every time but this one doesn't. Sometimes you press a button and it works and the next time it doesn't. I've lost patience with it and now only use the manual controls. Despite this minor inconvenience, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a neat, good-looking CD/DAB radio with decent sound to put in a small bedroom or study.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Stylish enough, but sound could be better
Fed up with crackling radio when I woke up in the mornings, I replaced a small CD/radio player with this one from PURE, and haven't regretted it. Firstly, the shape alone means it fits snugly onto the corner of a bedside table without taking up too much room, and overall the design of the radio is great.

Small niggles - FM reception and CD sound quality aren't brilliant. There's quite a lot of hiss when listening through headphones, and I'm not entirely convinced that when I hook up my MP3 player that the sound isn't in mono. Menu choices for changing the settings are reasonably easy to use, but it's easy to miss some settings and the buttons are a bit plasticky.

Positive selling points - excellent DAB reception from the very small aerial which you can simply tuck down the wall and get a great signal from; the sheer convenience of digital radio quality - and the addition of four alarm settings which you don't need to fiddle with unless your weekly routine varies wildly from day to day. Finally - the auto dimmer feature on the display means you can get to sleep without an annoyingly bright light glaring all night - a real annoyance on my previous CD/radio.

So - a good piece of kit, ideal for bedroom or kitchen. But main sound system it ain't.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Robust and functional - great in the kitchen
Nearly gave four stars due to the price point, but beyond that I am very happy with this. I bought it for the kitchen - it is compact (somewhat high) with a footprint little more than a triangle drawn around a Compact Disc. It nicely replaces a DAB radio and CD player combo I did have, and sounds fine even with integral speakers.

Buttons are maybe a little thin but mine work fine and I have none of the buzzing that others have mentioned.

The small wire aerial picks up as many stations as the metal aerial of the previous and this is outside of London.

All in all just about five stars though would have given four and a half if possible!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Perfect...but....
This would have been the perfect radio I was looking for, complete with sleep timer. But although the DAB was crystal clear there was an annoying hum present, particularly marked when changing stations, that was most likely due to the tuning unit. This fault has been noted by other users elsewhere, and a phone call to Roberts thought this the likely cause. It seemed odd that the box was not tape-sealed and that the stations had already been tuned in. I immediately returned the faulty unit to the marketplace supplier as instructed on their website, only to find that I had to bear the postage cost of £9. Not a happy buying experience.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - All the features for a great bedroom alarm clock
I'd been struggling to find a DAB radio with CD player that actually had the time display in big enough digits that you could see it without getting out of bed to have a look! This one is perfect- and the display is light sensitive so it dims automatically at night (although you can change this if you like). It has a number of other nice features- four alarms- yet you can see at a glance from the display which ones are currently active. I agree that the manual is extremely lacking, but to be honest the menus are so simple and straightforward to use, you soon find out all the other features. I did have a problem at first with a buzzing transformer plug, but an email to PURE technical support soon sorted that out, and within 24 hours I had a replacement that works fine. Very pleased.
