Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FUN!
Got this game for Christmas 2007 and I have had soooooooooooooo much fun with this game! All I can say about this is if you're after a new game for wii - This is the one - fantastic and well worth 5 stars.....

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - So close to being a classic....
This was the game i had looked forward to playing ever since i heard of it's release. It sounded like the perfect blend of 2 of the greatest multiplayer games, track and field/athens 2004 and mariokart, combining realistic events with nintendo's personal brand of lunacy.

On some levels the game delivers everything you could hope for, the events are varied enough that the game is not instantly mastered and beginners have a chance at beating experts on their weaker events.

However there were some let downs, i don't think they made enough of the characters strengths and weaknesses, for example sonic might finish last in a sprint and then beat heavyweight characters like bowser in the shot-put. One of my favourite aspects of athens was slogging out an endurance sapping 25 events battle with friends and something i had looking forward to with the game especially with the added effect of the the players having set strengths and weaknesses, sadly this is missing from sonic&mario with championships over after the most of 6 events,

Overall this is still a great game, it just could have been better, you'll be hooked once you get it but don't expect to be playing this game with 3 other friends in a few months time, the novelty wears off.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - controls difficult? My four year old can do it!
This is an excellent game. There is huge variety in the games; they are innovative and varied. The graphics are excellent as you would expect. More events unlock as you play the game more which increases its longevity.

Some other reviews complain about the complexity of the controls. This surprises me as my children (aged four and seven) can both manage to play it very well. They have both successfully won several gold medals and broken many world records, so if they can manage it I should think anybody could (if they could be bothered to read the instructions which are presented before each event).

Overall, it's an excellent game. As with many Wii games, it is definitely geared towards the younger gamer, and it hits this target market very well.

Just be careful, it can be very exhausting! You'll need the stamina of an Olympian to keep up with the kids.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - .......
I have this game on DS and Wii, the graphics are better on wii but on the Ds it is easyer. With the wii you need the nunchuk alot and you hit yourself with it and you know about it ! lol. Very Good Game..x.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - No wonder there have been street protests about the olympics...
I honestly cannot understand why anyone enjoys this game.

The hard times started right from the get-go before a starting pistol was even fired when the file creator screen would not allow me to enter my nickname (Spud) or any variation of it. It wouldn't even allow me to enter my real name. What on earth is this all about? I'm not connected to the web, so it's not even as if I'm duplicating someone else's gamer tag. It eventually allowed me to enter Spud with a diaresis over the u!

After that, things went downhill. Using the controls is a very arcane science, since it's difficult to use the buttons with the accuracy required when you're frantically waving them up-and-down to get speed. Your hands slip, or mine did anyway, and flicking the remote to jump, etc., is a hit-and-miss affair becasue there is no on-screen indication to tell you whether you did it too hard or soft. You have to wait to get your rubbish results, and hope for the best on the next attempt. The games are all a bit too difficult, particularly for a game which is likely to appeal to youngsters, and waggling the controls around results in the wire linking the nunchuck to the remote to sommersault like a skipping rope. I tried playing it sitting down, and had a smack in the eye with the wire for my troubles. Play it standing up and the wire can become tangled around the controllers. When you switch from a twin-control to a single control game or vice versa, it keeps annoyingly asking you to disconnent or re-attach the nunchuck, even when the nunchuck would not get in the way, like on the skeet shooting game. I can't imagine all this does the controllers much good. You have to go through the tiresome rigmarole of about three button presses when you want to replay any event, and in any case once you've succeded in an event there's little incentive to play again anyway, because the games are all pretty dull.

On the plus side, the graphics and sound are quite nice, but presentation counts for little when the games are not much good. I for one will be trading this game in at the soonest opportunity - I don't think any alternative could be much worse.
