Electronics : Olympus VN-2100PC Digital Voice Recorder with microphone

- Cumbersome
This is not compatible with Explorer or Windows Media. It has to be used on machines that have downloaded the Digital Wave Software (disc included) therefore it would be extremely cumbersome to use this on any but your own personal PC as that would require downloading software wherever you go. I doubt whether the saved files could be e-mailed.
Apart from that, the quality of playback is extremely poor. It is very hard to hear what is being said on the recorder.
It is very light and plasticky in feel. Not recommended.

I have just received this item and within 10 minutes I had it up and running including the programme. Hardly had to look at the manual it was so easy and I am no computer whiz.
I thoroughly recommend this product. It pics up voice extremely well and plays back as clear as a bell on the device as well as the PC. Does exactly what I want it to without being too high tech with unnecessary features. The set up feature from disc is neat and simple. If you just want to record voice, then this is the one!

Have to agree with Caz, this device does exactly what it says on the tin. I was told to buy a voice recorder (for training purposes at work); I must admit that I was unaware that tape-less devices existed (luddite that I am) but this has proved to be a whole lot better than I had expected. It's so simple and so efficient. I didn't even need to use the instruction manual - but then, I'm a bloke. Wearing a suit it's easy to slip it into my breast pocket where it's just about unseen yet it can record the conversations that take place in reasonable quality - could be used to blackmail someone I should imagine but I haven't gotten around to that yet. And setting up the software on my PC was simplicity itself, enabling me to transfer the recorded meetings and then delete them completely from the hand-held device. Excellent value for money because the only thing you'll need in the future will be another pair of batteries (the first ones are included, by the way) and I get the feeling that with almost no moving parts battery life will be good. Feels like it will last forever.

I love this product, and would purchase it again.
The only difference between this recorder and the next one up: VN-3100PC, (which my daughter has) is that this one has half the memory, and is black instead of blue, so any reviews for the VN-3100PC will apply to this one also.
The free microphone that you get does not include the cable and tie clip that you would get if you purchased microphone separately.
Overall I'm extremely happy I ordered this.
