Video Games : Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness (PSP)

- AMAZING! MUST BUY!
I am not a fan of this kind of game but I started playing and literally could not stop for the next 2 weeks.
It is an immense game for the PSP. Its perfect tp pick up and play and it ticks all the boxes especially the durability box.
Definite must buy for fans of this genre and even more so non fans

First off, if youre familiar with tactics games such as final fantasy tactics, onimusha tactics, front mission etc you will be well at home with this game.
So far ive got about 12hrs gameplay and im on chapter 4 (out of 14!) but i have spent alot of time other than following the main story. The story itself is a breath of fresh air. You play Laharl a young demon price vying for control of the throne of the underworld after his farthers death.
The graphics are of a nice anime quality and with good special effects. Characters are great even from the start, Prinnys are amazing (basically penguins with knifes!) and in a way similar to FF tactics you can hire other units for use in battle ranging from healers, thiefs, mages, warriors and even gun users (striders).
The game plays as you would expect with Laharls castle being you envoy to the different missions. One of the things i found most unique is that there is a world inside every item in the game! the maps are randomly generated and the idea is to keep progressing further into the item in order to make is stronger which i think is a great idea.
There is a hell of alot to this game, you can even lift and throw your characters to unreacable parts of the map, this adds again to the stratergy of the battles as you really do have to put some serious thought in.
The only downsides i can think of as with most TBS games is that if you only follow the story missions the game wont take long to complete and on the spin side could get boring for some gamers not used to the genre is doing alot of side missions.
All in all, with varied classes that all feel very different and an assortment of 'hero' characters, this game really shines of in the TBS stratergy genre, a definate must have for any fan of the genre and also a great game for PSP owners lokking for something a little different!

One of the most maddeningly addictive games i've ever played comes to psp at last,with some extras!If you like strategy rpgs then do yourself a favour & buy this game,then be prepared to put your life on hold & constantly charging up your battery!
The best game on Sony's handheld,...until they bring out Disgaea 2 on psp that is.Class!!
Rating: - The Netherworld, revisited.
Anyone who ever enjoyed a strategy RPG, who ever thought some games took themselves far too seriously, and who ever liked the idea of playing as a demon who wants complete domination of Hell itself should seriously consider this game.
Laharl is the son of the ruler of the Netherworld, and wakes up after two years to find his father dead and his kingdom gone to the dogs. Time to mourn? Nope, with the main obstacle to becoming Overlord out of the way, it's time for the young prince to take over. Of course, things never go quite so simply, especially when your greatest ally is as much of a back-stabbing demon as you are, and when angel assassins come knocking at your door.
Included in this release are extras such as a music store, collection details and extra dungeons not seen in the PS2 version, as well as a full "what if" alternate story that deals with what would have happened without Laharl. To say nothing of the PSP's sleep mode, allowing you to effectively put a long dungeon crawl on hold for days if necessary.
With enough challenges and features to appeal to hardcore returning fans and newcomers alike, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is the definitive version of one of the most charming games of all time.
