Lots of people here are praising this game very highly and, guess what, they're absolutely right!
I've loved all the iterations of Mario Kart, and unlike some people have generally found over the years they've got better and better. Maybe not in terms of rewarding 'twitcher' style obsessive gameplay (although I think it lacks nothing in the precision control department), but definitely in terms of simple, pure, joyous fun!
If you have a Wii and some mates, or a family, or you can just find some people to drag in off the street, there is no better game than this for a bunch of people to have a great time together playing.
Rating: - Loving Every Minute
This game has had me hooked from the word go. I cant get enough of it, it's a great game to play. And it also offers a new way to play the game via the Wii Wheel. I know a few people dont use the Wii Wheel, but I do. The way I see it is; anyone who doesn't use the Wii Wheel, it missing out on a truly unique experience when it comes to Mario Kart.
The amount of racers has been increased from 8 to 12, and there are unlockable characters to be found as well. The items make a welcome return. Some old like the Green Shell, some new like the Mega Mushroom which turns your racer into a giant for a limited amount of time. There are 16 new courses to race around, Rainbow Road makes a welcome return, but then it wouldn't feel like Mario Kart if there wasn't a Rainbow Road. And 16 Retro courses from previous Mario Kart games. My old favourite DK's Mountain makes a welcome return.
A few people were unsure about Nintendo adding bikes to the mix, but I can safely say they have nothing to fear. The bikes offer a chance to try something different, and since I started using the bikes, I always end up going for the bike. A bike can do a wheelie, which lets you go a bit faster, and you cant do that on a kart. But that isn't the reason I go for the bike. There is just something about the bike that I like.
Multiplayer is where this game comes into it's own, especially over wi-fi. There is no better feeling than coming 1st in a 12 person race, especially when it's on Rainbow Road, the hardest course in the game. Battle mode also returns, and like the courses, you got some new arenas and some Retro. Battles over wi-fi is done in teams, so you may find yourself in a 5 vs 6 battle at one point. But even then, if you get a good team, you may find that you win even when your outnumbered. During one battle, I was partnered with someone else, and we were against a team of 4 in a Balloon Battle. We beat the team of 4 easily with a score of 13 - 6.
Now and again Nintendo will run competitions on Mario Kart Wii, these can be anything from getting a good time on a course, or collecting coins. And that does add to the lifespan as you try and beat other racers from around the world.
This game will keep you hooked for months to come.

I love this game. It's so much fun. Wheather your playing alone or with friends its amazing. The online racing is great so easy to use and well designed. Rainbow road and koopa cape are my favorate tracks and the others are just as good not one i dislike. I am so glad i bought this game.

As a fan of N64 Mario Kart and also the downloaded N64 version on the Wii, I wasn't sure whether this classic could be bettered. It could!
There are 4 cups of 4 courses to start with, with another 4 cups to unlock along the way. However, we immediately ditched the wheel as it's not very responsive, instead using the classic controllers and nunchucks.
If we go back to the old N64 version, I'm worried it might (only) now look dated.
Rating: - Do not buy this product....
....if you have anything important to do, because rest assured once you've purchased this you won't have time for anything else. Thoroughly addictive, good clean wholesome fun for all the family. Even my missus who loathes computer games has been hooked by it.
Give it a go and get yourself online and you'll realise just why you bought this game.
