Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Do not buy this product....
....if you have anything important to do, because rest assured once you've purchased this you won't have time for anything else. Thoroughly addictive, good clean wholesome fun for all the family. Even my missus who loathes computer games has been hooked by it.

Give it a go and get yourself online and you'll realise just why you bought this game.

Superb.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Turtle vs the hare (in mariokart mode)
i have been playing Super Mariokart from the start and I still have the SNES plugged in purely for the classic game.

With every new release i think, finally this could be time to pack it away and free up some space under my tv and free up a powerpoint.
and every time im left disapointed. Unfortunatly this game is no exception.

Dont get me wrong, the game is great fun for the family, its very easy to pick up for beginners (my mum who has never played on a console before beat me in a couple of races!) and provides laughs and banter all night.

this is a good game, but it could have been a great game with not alot of effort and thats whats annoying.

You can be leading all the race, your driving could be faultless.
however, someone throws a warioshell(never misses) at the death and you finish 6th? and this for me although it adds some fun and excitement for the short term, it takes away alot of the skill factor and turns the game into a crapshoot.
to add to this, if you are doing well the boxes never help you (always a banana or greenshell) but if your doing not so well you always get mushrooms, stars and rockets to help you catchup

It pays to start slow and steady as a turtle. most the time you will catch up avoid hazards and beat the hare :-)

those factors make it a good party game (anyone can win) but i would have liked to have seen more skill required.

on the SNES version, you could at least avoid red shells by turning the corner quicker or dropping a green shell or banana behind you. i think if you could somehow avoid the hazards and feel slightly more in control of your own destiny (maybe a button combo?) then the game would be so much better.

Another let down for me is the battle mode, its just maddness.
12 cars 2 teams everything flying about - its very hard to work out whats going on. and again little skill (unlike the SNES)

I think Nintendo have done well in making games FUN again, and making them simple - but i feel they tried a little too hard in making this Partykart too fun and crazy.

i Rate this game 5 for fun, and overall just 3.

Go back to basics nintendo, give us back our mariokart that we know and love!

i would pay alot of money to play Classic mariokart online against others!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Boring, Easy and Repetitive
Firstly i dont recomend using the wii wheel, using the gamecube controller is better. It controls better and there is no unwanted skidding on all the corners. Secondly this game just feels like Mario Kart on the Gamecube. It looks like Mario Kart on the Gamecube too. Amazingly it sounds like Mario Kart on the Gamecube too. Sure it has a few new tracks and online mode, but if your playing this as a 1 player game its pretty dull and boring after only a couple of races. Even a few new weapons don't really make this game much more interesting, mainly because your usually in 1st place and are always on the receiving end of them. Count the times you get hit by a Blue Shell followed straight by a Red Shell, it happens so often its just stupid. I guess it might be myself just wanting more, afterall ive played through the Snes, N64, GBA, DS and GC versions before and whilst most of them had major improvements over their predecessors, this one really doesn't improve on the GC version much at all. All in all its pretty dissapointing for £30 or however much you payed for it. Well worth it if your a new player to Mario Kart like many will be due to the Wii's popularity, but less so if your a Mario Kart veteran like myself.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A fantastic game with a good mix of nostalgia and fresh courses and characters
This is a very good game which appeals to the whole family. As a Mario fan, it was inevitable that this was going to be the next addition to my catalogue of Wii games, and I am very pleased to own it!

The wheel which comes with this game is, as usual, well-built and of the usual Nintendo affordable but high-quality standard. It is easy to use with the game, though multi-playing is also available if you have a Nunchuk or a legacy controller, allowing immediate offline multi-play with only one wheel.

Linking your game using Nintendo's Wi-Fi Channel (or WFC) can be a little fiddly for those who are not technically-minded, and there are a few teething problems with some friends taking a while to change from their question mark 'status' to available for online game play, and the Nintendo servers have also proven to be (perhaps unsurprisingly!) quite busy. However, once friends are linked and you're connected via the Nintendo WFC, game play against humans as opposed to your typical artificial intelligence makes for a very entertaining and competitive time!

For those who remember all the previous Mario Kart games there's plenty of legacy courses and characters to provide just the right amount of nostalgia, with newer courses showing their resemblance to recent Mario games such as Super Mario Galaxy.

Overall a fantastic game for all ages and abilities; newcomers and Mario Kart addicts alike!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Super Mario - Multiplayer Fun
Finally picked up this game yesterday (why is anything related to the Wii still so difficult to get your hands on???) and it is top quality. Great little game to pick up and play. I can best exemplify this by the attitude my wife had when I put it on. She pulled a bit of a strop and said that she would play one race and that's it. Six races later and she couldn't get enough!

As an earlier reviewer commented, the online game is really top quality. I noticed no lag whatsoever. Much better than the online option on FIFA 08 which I find so infuriating as games continually stall, slow down or lose connection altogether. Mario Kart has none of these problems and makes for superb online gameplay.

As for the moans and groans of previous reviewers, I don't really know what they are going on about. I remember playing Mario Kart ages ago (the first version I think) and found it be a fun party game even back then. Admittedly I haven't followed the franchise (I was a PlayStation owner back in the day), but this certainly brings back memories of the fun we had playing four player Mario Kart. Furthermore, if you want realistic racing, why the hell would you buy Mario Kart????!!! It has never been Gran Turisimo (a game I was a big fan of on the PlayStation), and has always been a fun, party game - something the Wii was designed for.

In short, really great fun and possibly the best Wii game so far (alongside Mario & Sonic Olympics and Resident Evil 4). Now, just need to try and hunt down an official Wii wheel....why are these things so hard to get hold of???
