Video Games : RHEM 3: The Secret Library (Mac/PC DVD)

I will not disagree with the other reviewer, but obviously he's / she's not a game puzzle lover as I am. I love puzzle adventures (Rhem, Schizm, Myst series) and Rhem 3 was not an exception.
If you haven't played Rhem 1 & 2, you don't need to. There's nothing you will be missing, Rhem's story could be described in a couple of lines.
Rhem 3 is once again a HUGE area (outdoors this time) filled with puzzles and hints. If you 've played the first two you know exactly what I mean. There are more inventory puzzles in Rhem 3 than the previous games, but it's definetely NOT an inventory based game.
In my opinion Rhem 3 is just a little worse than the previous 2 games, but do not get fooled. It's still a very good game and you''ll definetely enjoy it if you liked the first 2.
On technicals terms, there haven't been any big improvements (if any). The graphics are still outdated, and the enviroment is still static (for most part), but ... who cares anyway? You will buy the game for it's puzzles and nothing more. The game still uses the (1st) Myst navigation system (which I STILL consider the best).
I found it a little more difficult than the 1st Rhem, but less difficult than the 2nd one. After all, I used about 20 pages of notes (front and back) for Rhem 2, but only 4 for Rhem 3. One complain I have is that no matter HOW HARD you look for hints, you'll ALWAYS miss something in these games. (If you've played Rhem 3 already and missed that lever "just" in front of you, you know what I mean).
I personally finished the game in about 20 hours (with a couple of hints near the end), but newbees in these kind of games will definetely need more. Get it if you liked the first two, stay away if you found Myst way too difficult.

I had the disadvantage of not having played parts 1 or 2 as I believe that these are only mac compatible.
I found that I did not have any background to understand what I needed to do or why. There was little interaction and the game seemed to be one large and very complicated maze which required puzzles at every turn to progress, once into the swing of it the puzzles were fairly straight forward (Hint always look at the colour of cables, pipes and leads). It is well programmed with good and responsive graphics but I just could not get involved in it.
The only plus point that I can think of is that it is not a short game and without resorting to a walkthrough (I did when I got fed up) it will provide many many hours of play.
I prefer games where there is more interaction between characters and although the Myst series did not have much interaction it did not feel so cold and inpersonal.
