Electronics : AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ AM2 Retail Socket AM2 Processor

I have upgraded my Dell 521 CPU, AMD 5000+ to this AMD 6400+ and my vista score went from 5.2 to 5.5. Using internet, opening files and media playback didn't show the full out of it but game playing significantly improved somewhat. I would imagine that if you use this CPU with Windows XP rather than Vista, it would be much better. I play games with an ATI HD graphic and it works fine. The word 'fine' exactly fits in. I don't have any complaints.
But I would recommend to buy black edition rather, not because you want to overclock it(no point in overclocking anyway), but because the blackedition is designed to deal with hot temperatures. But either you chose, you need to have a good heat sink. It's quite hot anyway so have a look at heatsinks.
notice this CPU is running almost the same speed as Intel E8400 running at 3.0Ghz.
I am planing to try out AMD Phenom Quad when they release the 3.0Ghz ones in future.
I have heard that they are intelligent on calculations especially the triple core ones.
Personally I like both AMD and Intel. But (Interestingly, I get the feeling) if I want to buy Intel, then I will spend £1000 to get QX9450. If I want to buy AMD, I will go for a mid range like this one.
