Toys : The Conqueror 1:16 - Radio Control (R/C) Car

I was looking for a radio controlled car for my 6 year old son and saw the CONQUEROR on Amazon. I could not find any reviews for it on the internet or what size the car was but the specifications looked pretty impressive for the price so I took a chance. When it arrived the box was huge and discovered that the conqueror is much bigger than it looked in the picture, the car measures 33cm long by 23cm wide by 21cm high. Being a bloke I had to test it out before I gave it to my son for his birthday. I tried it out on the living room floor (the carpet was no problem for this beast!) but due to it size and rather limited turning circle and fast speed I soon realised this was better suited for outside or a very large room. So I put it away until my sons birthday. On his birthday his eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw his large parcel. When unwrapped we took it down to the park for a test run. It went ok on short grass but was much better on tarmac. The controller is very easy to use (forwards, backwards, stop, and steer left, right). Even though it looks like a 4x4 it is 2 wheel driven with a differential gear box so it is not really suited to 'off roading' but works well on a good surface, it's quite fast too. I tested the range of the radio control the conqueror travelled roughly 20 meters before it was out of range and stopped. The 650mha rechargeable battery that came with it lasted only about 30 minutes after its initial charge (hopefully this will improve after 3 or 4 charges). But I have just purchased a second 2300mha battery that should last longer. The car and controller seem reasonably well built and robust but I don't think they would stand up to lots of abuse. All in all for the price paid i'm quite impressed with it and would definitely recommend it to others unless you are looking for it to do serious rough stuff then you would be advised to spend more and get a 4 wheel drive model.
