Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Meh ..
I firstly downloaded the demo of this game off my xbox 360. I played one round and i was hooked, it was so fun. I didnt know why, it just brouhg a smile to my face. I then rented it, (like the person below this review) just to be sure. I played another round, the novelty was fading. Fast. I finished the round and played another. I didnt even play that round for 10 minutes.
You move too fast, the Strogg are far better than the GDF, the games are too complicated, its saying heres an objective thats GOT to be completed by this guy and it's all a bit .. meh really. If you want a game similar to this, but FAR better, try Battlefield 2142. ETQW didnt impress me, im glad i didnt buy it, but i must make a note. The pc version is so much better. My brother purchased it for something round £6 on pc, it has better graphics, you dont move so fast, you can sprint, you can go prone, and overall, is much better than the console version. If you are intrested in this game, buy the computer version. If you dont have a computer .. well just dont buy it. Just dont.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - could have been so much better
Picked this up in the bargain bucket in game for a tenner, Online this game plays best and its quite good fun. Sadly, the vehicles simply defy any logical steering and the humans and strogg move at such a pace, its all very fast and frantic.

Some nice touches with the deployable turrets and range of weapons.

The developers really didnt try to hard with this one with is a shame as it had all the potential to be a good one. Search those bargain buckets and enjoy it till you get too frustrated with it !!!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - One of the worst FPS games ever!
This review is based purely on the demo that was released on xbox live, but my thought is don't release a demo if it makes the final product look bad!To begin with the graphics in this game are bad. Dull, brown and boring. The gameplay is similar. I played this demo for a full 2 hours hoping in vain it would improve and sadly it didn't. I found this game to be a huge disappointment. Avoid.

Quake wars: dull and very boring!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very Very Poor Effort!!
I found this game to be a huge let down, it really missed it's potential by miles.
When my other half bought me this game I looked forward to playing it, got it out and started spent bout half hr on it and could not get to like it, I thought I'd give it a chance and another couple of goes because I thought I couldn't figure out why I disliked it. I tried the campaigns, quik play and Online and I've come to the conclusion the the game is an absolute waste of time and money.

Pros:
Ummmm ok the graphics are ok nothing special and aren't something not seen b4 and the game play is smooth.

Con: Lacks imagination, campaigns are all identical the maps they just change the colour of the scenery, the mission 3 in each campaign last 15 min and the objectives are all the same.
Weapons consist of assault rifle, rocket launcher, sniper rifle and GPMP WoW lot of thought in that. vehicles tank, quad bike, jeep, and helicopter type thing again nowt special.
The online games are identical to the off line games.

Conclusion: The game has no focus, the game play lacks anthing special even the online play feels distant and souless. Game play is repetative the campaigns can be done in little over an hr. The missions soley consist of defending an objects for 15min. The scenery is bland (reminds me and very similar to the scenery in the original Delta Force on the PC from the late 1990's) based on a few buildings rolling hills and virtualy nothing else. I couldn't believe how bad the game was so I stuck it out to confirm it, a total let down and very poor effort, what were they thinking!!! I even though well maybe it would a reasonable online shooter but even that is seriously lacking anything to get the pulse going.

If yo are considering this game think very hard b4 parting with your money.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - It's a toughie
I was a fan of the Quake series right up to Quake 4. By then shooting hadmoved on, and Quake just hadn't seemed to realise that. Super-speed just didn't work well with complete freedom of movement (as opposed to the four-direction system of Quake I and II), and of course there was the complete awfulness of the stroggification. It was sort of funny in Quake II when they wandered around going "THE HORROR!", but there's a line in the sand, you know?

Anyway, I decided to give this game a rent, because I'm into team games. Let me start off with the good. The variety is excellent, being a Strogg is refreshingly different from the old bullet-firing humans. The overall look, seen by some to be too "brown" works for me; it sets a gritty scene. The vehicles are imaginative and useful, and the way objectives are actually built is very cool. Generally the game just reeks of "cool".

Now onto the bad. There are far to many gadgets. A few gadgets are cool and fun, but too many and you get a complicated mess where each team member is taking part in a different style of play. Also, the gadgets and guns are spread out confusingly; for example, you'd think engineers would be fit for fixing and anti-tank missions. Nope. Engineers fix, and otherwise are regular guys. The soldier class has the rocket launcher, but you need to pick it from your inventory (took me a while to figure this out). Gadgets are nice, but too many and it just messes up the battlefield as too many team-members are dicking around with toys rather than fighting!

I said the vehicles were fun. They are, but driving them is a nightmare when you start out. You get used to it, but it's never as simple as it should be. Also, the cool class-developing system from the PC has gone. WHY? That would have made this game so much better!

And my biggest problem, the thing that stopped me buying this: SPEED. What. The. Hell. Were. They. Thinking.

It's like running on ice! OK, it helps you get into the fight quicker, but once in there it's incredibly confusing. When the enemy are at long range it sets up to be a nice fight. At medium range things are getting runny, but still you get "oh sh-" moments when a tank appears and you leg it for cover as a shell explodes at your feet. Then it gets to short range and the whole thing falls apart. You can hear Benny Hill's tune in your head as you madly swivel the Left Stick, trying to aim before eventually succumbing to the temptation to hold R Trig. You hit your own guys, you hit their guys, and you basically wait it out for a minute or so and see who wins. Here the strategy disappears, unless you have a guy a sensible distance away who can still aim.

The speed kills this game. Well, it doesn't kill it, just mortally wounds it. It is still a lot of fun, especially when you try to keep it a ranged fight, but up close (and many parts of the map are tight corridors and tunnels) it just becomes Quake III with objectives.

Picture it: you're a nasty Strogg, hiding in a bush near the gate the humans have to blow up. Three guys appear and set up. Shouldn't be too much trouble, you think, they have their backs to me. You open fire and kill the guy that was planting the charge. You turn to get the other two, but they are skidding wildly around, back and forth, left to right. You fire for a minute or so, and they continue this, one medic skidding over the dead guy and healing him; great, three un-hittable targets. You hearing Benny Hill yet?

OK, that's a little exagerration, but movement is still a problem. I see three guys, there's one of me. They drop to their knees and begin to fire. I stay on my feet and strafe like hell; I win. It kills the strategy.

All in all, this is a good game with a huge flaw, but a good game nonetheless. It can't compete with the sound, intensity or sensible speed of Bad Company, but after a year has passed and Bad Company has begun to get a little tiresome, you may see this in a bargin bin. You may buy it. You may slot it in to your 360, appreciate the love and attention that was put into it by the developers, tolerate the ridiculous movement and get a few weeks of fun out of it before returning to Bad Company. It's worth that, and it could have been worth so much more.

It saddens me, it really does. To see something so trivial and avoidable nearly destroy such great promise. If you do see it for a tenner, give it a chance; there is fun to had still, I promise you.
