Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Online! Online! Online!
I would recommend that you only buy this game if your xbox 360 is connected to the Internet. Although the one player mode is brilliant, it is too short to spend £40 on.

When online it is one of the best games I have ever played.

A must have IF connected to the net.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Completely over-rated
You wanna know why society is the way it is? Games like Call of Duty are partly to answer. I had previously only heard that this was meant to be Game Of The Year, along with various other accolades, but it would appear the game is far from deserving such praise. On single-player, it is a cheesy 'epic' encounter in which the U.S, UK, Russia, and various other parties are yet again involved on a humanitarian mission to avert the world war-fare.

Perhaps the most shocking aspect is the horrid behaviour and language from other gamers that you can play against across the world. Gaming is supposed to be fun - but Call of Duty and other such titles are almost a "cull" for young individuals to live a life that is, obviously, more intense and important than their own. It took me just half an hour before I disconnected; I don't see why you should have to put up with being called a "limey bas**rd" and other pathetic things by Americans, who very scarily treat the game like it's life or death.
Indeed, it is not required that you must use a head-set, but surely the whole point of having that option is to be 'tactically' social and have a good time?
On a technical basis, the graphics are un-undoubtedly excellent as you'd expect off the 360, though I wasn't too fussed on the stiff camera angle.

These are only my views - I understand various individuals will feel the need to rate this a thumbs down because the worship such games, but heck, least some of us have a 'life'.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Definately Deserves its Game of the Year Title....
After having the previous two installments of Call of Duty 2 & 3 on Xbox 360 which were both set in world war 2, I was at first, a little dubious about the switch to modern day. I love WW2 games, CoD 3 was a shining example of a classic WW2 title, epic, cinematic battles, great visuals, and a fantastic array of weaponry really set the game apart from its competitors. Online is where Cod 3 excelled. It was awesome. Enough Said. Number 4 has a lot to live up to.

On to the new version. Firstly the campaign. It is nothing short of epic. Every level is a masterpiece in engaging the player in the surroundings and sucking them into enormous firefights that are truly spectacular. The atmosphere in the levels is very intense and leads to an extremely dramatic conclusion at the end. Overall, the campaign is, admittedly, short, however, if you jump in on the harder difficulties you'll find it a lot more challenging, especially veteran difficulty.

Online play is where this game excels. With the ability to create custom classes and upgrade weaponry with scopes and camouflages, it truly makes for an epic experience. This is, without doubt, the best online game i have ever played, beating gears of war pretty much hands down which is one hell of an accomplishment as gears is still one of my favorite online games.

Overall, the Graphics are stunning, one of the best on any console. The campaign is short but incredibly sweet. But online is where this game truly excels. Be warned, if you buy this title, you won't be playing anything else for months!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Single Player Short, Online Death Quicker
Let me start of by saying that I loved this game, the graphics and the playability are fantastic. Why have I only given it three stars I hear you ask?

TT'S TOO DAMN SHORT!!!

Game developers seem to be gripped by the popularity of XBox live, and are aiming their games at the mass market online players rather than those o us that really enjoy the single player experiance. The online play CAN be fun, but I really have to stress that it seems there are some people who do nothing but sit there all day and play on this game.

I spent most of the first hour of online play respawning after being killed y yet another mysterious sniper bullet, ad while I acceot and applaud the skill level, in my opinion that isn't a game. I quickly learnt that to stay alive for more than 30 secinds online you have to sprint everywhere, which leaves you defencless if/when you run into an opponent.

You quite simply don't get time to hone your skills, and if my opinion this game would be greatly more enjoyable online if Ativision and Infinity Ward were able to introduce some kind of handicap system where those of us new to online gaming can get used to it with a little bit if anb advantage over the old hands that are familar with the strafe and hid, strafe and hide, snipe routine. Overall I did enjoy this game, but it's let down y the woefully short single player and the near vertical learning curve online.

3/5 from me.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Over rated.
Okay, so I got this game pretty soon after its release, and was real excited to play it. It lived up to these expectations, and I have to say - especially online - this is a fantastic game. But after playing it for so many hours (I think it was between 10 and 15 for me) I couldn't stand it. Sure, it's fun. But, personally I found it repetitive. Another annoying thing, not related to the game itself, is that everyone compares games with it now! Tbh, I would rather have Battlefield : Bad Company than this, so saying it's nothing like COD 4 is quite appealing. I found COD 3 more to my liking, which is NOT because of the vehicles, but I found the online combat more engaging and varied.

Pros: Very fun, especially online with friends.
Graphically immense.
Loved the shooting through walls and ghillie suit ideas.
Cons: Can get repetitive.
Story missions could vary more.
NO MORE GUESTS ONLINE! ) :

Overall, get it. But don't get too enthusiastic.
