Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Rubbish
Single player game is non-existent. It is so annoying that PS game titles that once had such good single player campaigm modes (quake and unreal)now don't! I think games should make it very clear in the title/box of the game if there is no online play. Dissoppointing ... I would much rather play Quake 2 on my PS1.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good fun!
What can I say? I tried the demo and bought the game. It's good fun, and it cost me around £25 delivered so I'm pretty happy with the deal.

So far I've only played one evening online with the full game as it only arrived today, but there was plenty of good team play - and the medics did their job looking out for the injured. I checked the stats of the player's hosting the sessions I played and they're both in the top 50 on the leaderboard, which may have been a factor. This was in contrast with the online demo where quite a few people were generally messing around rather than focusing on the objectives, but I guess that's the way it goes.

I found it easy to get into the game, and it looks like it has sufficient depth in terms of different classes, weapons and achievements (tracked on www.enemyterritory.com) to sustain my interest. I can't pretend it's the definitive example of 'nextgen' eye candy or that it's 'the best game evar', but I really like it and it's good fun so using Amazon's scale that makes it a five-star game, for me at least.

Bottom line: the demo version is free on PSN, so try it for yourself.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - At least Unreal Tournament 3 made an effort
When it was first announced that Quake Wars, (the popular online shooter for PC) was coming to consoles, it was also promised there'd be a revamped single player mode included.

Quake Wars arrives a year on from its PC release, with this single player mode nowhere to be seen. This leaves exactly the same menu screens for both online and offline play. Even Unreal Tournament 3 attempted to cobble together some kind of single player mode. Although it wasn't fantastic, the effort was appreciated.

A single player mode simply cannot be overlooked in console games; Quake Wars is a big culprit for this. None of the modes available even have a rudimentary explanation, and the whole process is frustratingly trial and error. And why should anyone bother to learn when its so little fun to play?
Graphics are very blocky, with too much brown for anyone to handle. Quake Wars is a shocking eyesore that actually looks worse than the PC original.

In fact, I can't think of any incentive whatsoever to play this ugly, overpriced rip off.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - What a let down
I was looking forward to buying this game and it was high on my list of games to get. What a waste of time and money. For a start, the game's graphics are the poorest I have seen on PS3 yet. I am serious when I say that I have seen better graphics on some PS1 games.
Once you have got over the poor graphics though it just seems to get worse and worse from there. There are some really good ideas in this game - mission based, very nice weapons, class system, freedom to do anything and go anywhere, and to tackle objectives in any order you like. However, the way this is done is not pretty at all.
There are also a wide range of different vehicles to drive, which I was quite excited about, but these drive very squarely and it feels like your driving a cardboard box. Also the driving controls are very confusing, even though I'm sure that they can be changed.
Every time you respawn, you will last for about two minutes before having to respawn again. You do have the choice however to wait for a medic, but every time you wait nobody appears. Where's the team spirit?
I played this once on single player mode and was more than disappointed. I would have liked to try the online mode, but if the single player is anything to go by, I don't think I want to go there.
In conclusion, this game has some brilliant ideas but is perhaps created by the wrong people. I am not telling you not to buy this, as it may be for you. What I am saying is that if you do buy it, don't be hoping for a next-gen game experience, and be ready for possible disappointment. Basically... buy with caution.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Glitchy
Well the game looks like it could be quite good but it has the look of being ported to the PS3 by very bad programmers.

Even in single player mode the frame rate can drop below 10fps and it doesn't even look good!

Trying to find an online game that is actually playable is a nightmare, most just glitch so badly you cannot play it. You have to just keep connecting to games, maybe 1 in 7 works ok.

Best to leave this one alone, mine is going back to the shop.
