I am very sceptical about 'self-help' books, they seem to state the obvious and make you pay large amounts of money for it. However, I bought this on sale (sorry Paul!) as a buy three get one free deal - I couldn't find a third book I liked, I knew I needed to diet, and it was there. It sat on my bookshelf for months, unread. One particular Sunday, when depression over my weight and my job had made me hit an all-time low I was so desperate I read it. Cover to cover, in one sitting, to my surprise. I burst into tears at one point, embarrassingly, when a particular chapter made me ask myself how I could be so - neglectful? uncaring? - of myself.
