I have only previously played one burnout game (revenge) Burnout paradise has turned out to be quite a good and really fun game for me. The graphics are nice and sharp with no slip in the framerate even at high speeds which I think is essential for a game which is played at such a fast pace, the gameplay is good and it sounds realistic too. I have seen some reviews criticising the open format and free burning, like I said at the start having only played one burnout game before so this new format doesnt really bother me all that much.
